  • Patent number: 6984252
Abstract: A dust collection apparatus includes a container and a suction pump that sucks dust and transports it into the container. A filter is provided on a side surface of the container. This filter passes air but prevents passage of the dust in the container. A pressure detector detects an internal pressure of the container. The internal pressure of the container fluctuates due to a variation in an effective area of the filter for allowing the air to pass according to the dust collected and accumulated in the container. A dust accumulating quantity calculator which determines a quantity of the dust in the container based on the pressure detected.

  • Patent number: 6711361
Abstract: An image forming apparatus of the present invention includes a main controller and an engine controller. When an error occurs in an image forming engine, the engine controller sends to the main controller status information representative of original conditions set up before the error and error information representative of the error and causes a second relay to interrupt the application of an AC voltage to a heater controller. The main controller stores the received status information in its memory and turns off a first relay to thereby interrupt the application of the AC voltage to a second power supply. After recovery from the error, the main controller again turns on the first relay and thereby causes the engine controller to restore the original conditions represented by the status information.

  • Patent number: 5225871
Abstract: A control device incorporated in image forming equipment and having at least a main control unit and a slave control unit. The main and slave control units each has a CPU (Central Processing Unit) and a ROM (Read Only Memory) for storing image formation control programs. To change the image formation control programs, only the ROM of the main control unit is replaced to thereby reduce the service time.

  • Patent number: 5131079
Abstract: A method controls a display for a copying machine including a device having two-dimensional dot displaying device in which displaying layers for at least two colors of red and green are provided and capable of displaying at least four colors red, green, white, and black by combining the displaying layers. The method is made up of the steps of providing storing device including a memory space which corresponds to a display of the dot displaying device and in which addresses are sequentially assigned. The system then calculates display information of one-dimensional absolute address position information in response to display information in which coordinate information is made into two-dimensional coordinate information. This display information is stored in the storing device, and then supplied to the displaying device so as to be displayed. The display device is primarily a dot type device.

  • Patent number: 5124759
Abstract: A control method for an image recorder of the type transporting a recording medium substantially vertically from a lower portion to an upper portion inside the recorder. This type of recorder transfers a toner image from a photoconductive element to the medium, and has a toner density sensor for sensing the toner density of a reference density pattern. When the medium jams in the transport path while being transported in the vertical direction, whether it has slipped out of the transported path and dropped to a position where the toner density sensor is located is determined, the sensor is turned on when the operator starts on an operation for removing the medium and when the operator ends such an operation. When the resultant two consecutive outputs from the sensor are different from each other, it is determined that the medium has dropped and the jam is in the vicinity of the sensor.

  • Patent number: 4785328
Abstract: An electrophotographic copying machine has a flash lamp for applying a flash of light to a document to be copied. The copying machine also includes a sensor for detecting whether the flash lamp is energized or not. When there is no signal indicating that the flash lamp is energized even in the presence of a command to energize the flash lamp, a control circuit determines that the flash lamp has failed to emit light at a predetermined exposure timing, and produces an output signal to effect a predetermined operation upon non-energization of the flash lamp.

  • Patent number: 4782369
Abstract: A flash lamp type device for illuminating an original document insures safety operation by alerting an operator, by an alarm, display and others, to the breakage of a glass platen and/or the open position of a protective cover which may occur while the voltage charge in a capacitor is higher than any desired voltage. A trigger circuit associated with a trigger wire is disenabled by sensing the breakage of a glass platen and/or the open position of the protective cover.
