Patent number: 10323261Abstract: A polyhydroxyalkanoate copolymer composition is provided. The composition comprises a plurality of polyhydroxyalkanoate copolymer molecules. The polyhydroxyalkanoate copolymer molecules (i) comprise 3-hydroxybutyrate monomers and 4-hydroxybutyrate monomers, (ii) have a monomeric molar percentage of 4-hydroxybutyrate monomers of 23.5 to 75%, and (iii) have a biobased content of ?80%. Also provided is a method of making a polyhydroxyalkanoate copolymer composition. The method comprises culturing an organism in the presence of one or more carbon raw materials under conditions under which (a) the one or more carbon raw materials are converted to 3-hydroxybutyryl-CoA and 4-hydroxybutyryl-CoA and (b) the 3-hydroxybutyryl-CoA and the 4-hydroxybutyryl-CoA are polymerized to form the polyhydroxyalkanoate copolymer molecules, thereby forming the composition. Publication number: 20020074295Abstract: A process for treating contaminated liquid, in which the liquid to be treated is contacted with a charged polymeric material and with a second, oppositely charged polymeric material. The polymeric materials are soluble in the liquid, and at least one of the soluble polymeric materials is a branched polymeric material. Floc formation is allowed and the flocs are separated from the liquid. The first and second polymeric materials may be selected from the group consisting of polysaccharides, proteins, lipids and polyhydroxy alcohols.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 29, 2001Publication date: June 20, 2002Inventors: Ephraim Cohen, Amnon Sintov, Yossef Shabtai

Patent number: 4234689Abstract: Growth of Arthrobacter Sp. ATCC 31012 on ethanol has been used to produce a new class of extracellular micro bial protein-associated lipopolysaccharides (the ".alpha.-emulsans") which, on a weight-for-weight basis, are probably the most efficient emulsifiers discovered and which possess certain characteristics that permit these unique extracellular microbial lipopolysaccharides to be widely used in cleaning oil-contaminated vessels, oil spill management, and enhanced oil recovery by chemical flooding. Deproteinization of .alpha.-emulsans by hot phenol extraction produces the lipopolysaccharide components (the "apo-.alpha.-emulsans") of such .alpha.-emulsans, which components have been shown to be completely N-acylated and partially O-acylated heteropolysaccharides made up of major amounts of D-galactosamine and an aminouronic acid, the O-lipoacyl portions of such apo-.alpha.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1979Date of Patent: November 18, 1980Assignee: Biotechnologie Aktiengesellschaft fur EmulsanInventors: David L. Gutnick, Eugene Rosenberg, Yossef Shabtai
