  • Patent number: 5195755
Abstract: A slurry seal assembly is provided which includes a casing, a flange fixed to the casing, a sleeve and seal cover located over a shaft and seal rings fitted into the sleeve through packings and in which parts of the surfaces of the members confronting a confined space are all protected by a synthetic rubber, thereby improving their resistance to slurry.

  • Patent number: 5129659
Abstract: A shaft seal for slurry pumps is provided, wherein a dust lip is attached to the outer periphery of a rotary seal ring such that it extends from its one end positioned in a confining space over a packing for the rotary seal and terminates at its other end in front of a seal cover for the packing with a slight gap between them, thereby avoiding erosion of the packing by slurry and instabilization of the loads applied to the sliding surface of the seal rings by erosion of the dust lip.

  • Patent number: 5114160
Abstract: A quenching mechanism for slurry pumps comprises a radial or inclined array of grooves at the rear end of a rotary seal ring. A quenching water, flowing along a fixed seal ring and through a gap between both the seal rings and a baffle sleeve, is forced to flow to the outer periphery of the rotary seal ring by the pumping action of the grooves, thereby achieving an increased cooling effect.

  • Patent number: 4844483
Abstract: A floating seal device includes a fixed side O-ring held by a fixed side seal retainer, a rotary side O-ring held by a rotary side seal retainer, and fixed side and rotary side seal rings pressed against each other by the respective O-rings so that their opposed surfaces may be slidably held in contact with each other. Such device is improved in order to eliminate oil leakage, to reduce mechanical power loss, to avoid an increase in weight and to shorten the replacement time for lubricant oil by mounting an oil absorbing member made of felt or the like to a peripheral wall surface formed on the opposed surface of the rotary side seal ring.
