  • Publication number: 20230048391
Abstract: In some embodiments, a method receives a statement graph for a procedure that is used to access data and determines a set of producer statements and a set of consumer statements in the statement graph. A producer statement produces a variable for a consumer statement, and the consumer statement consumes the variable from the producer statement. The method optimizes the statement graph to generate an optimized procedure by moving an operator from a consumer statement to a producer statement or by moving an operator from a producer statement to a consumer statement. The optimized procedure is output based on the optimized statement graph.

  • Patent number: 8150134
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for enhancing blood vessels in angiography images. The method incorporates the use of linear directional features present in an image, extracted by a Directional Filter Bank, to obtain more precise Hessian analysis in noisy environment and thus can correctly reveal small and thin vessels. Also, the directional image decomposition helps to avoid junction suppression, which in turn, yields continuous vessel tree.

  • Patent number: 8108356
Abstract: In one aspect of the invention, there is disclosed a recovery method in a storage system that integrates shadow page and deferred update techniques. Updates of a page in the buffer are not immediately reflected to the database, but are deferred until the transaction is committed. Instead, the updated buffer page is stored in the log volume in the unit of a page. When reading a page that does not exist in the buffer from the disk, the up-to-date page from the database or from the log volume is read. Then the log table index is used to determine whether the up-to-date page exists in the database or in the log volume and to identify the position of the page stored in the log volume if the up-to-date page exists in the log volume.

  • Publication number: 20110077919
Abstract: A method of recognizing an activity on the basis of a semi-Markov conditional random field (CRF) model is provided. The method includes segmenting an input signal measured by an accelerometer to output frame sequences, extracting training feature vectors from the frame sequences, building a codebook containing kernel vectors from the training feature vectors; quantizing vector sequences into discrete symbol sequences, using linear chain semi-Markov CRF model to compute the likelihood of a label given its corresponding symbol sequence.

  • Publication number: 20110078698
Abstract: The present invention is directed to reconciliation/reengineering of mappings in dynamic/evolving ontologies. Mappings are established among different ontologies for resolving the terminological and conceptual incompatibilities and support information exchange. As ontology evolves from one consistent state to another consistent state; this consequently makes the existing mappings of the domain ontology with other ontologies unreliable and staled, so mapping evolution is required. The present invention uses Change History Log of ontology changes to drastically reduce the time required for (re)establishing mappings among ontologies, achieving higher accuracy, and eliminating staleness in mappings. It is valid for more than two ontologies with local, centralized, and distributed Change History Log.

  • Publication number: 20110055553
Abstract: A method for implement an energy-efficient user access control to wireless sensor networks is disclosed. A user creates a secret key and sending it to a sensor. The sensor builds a first MAC value by the secret key and sends it to the Key Distribution Center which builds a second MAC value and sending it to the sensor. The sensor decrypts the second MAC value to get a random number, and builds a third MAC value by the random number. The third MAC value is used by the user to authenticate the sensor.

  • Publication number: 20090328138
Abstract: A method and system for implementing activity-oriented access control (AOAC) to hospital information is disclosed. An access request device sends user credentials attaching user attributes to an AOAC server, which in turn searches activity rules that are assigned to user attributes from an activity server and a current work situation of the user from an activity recognition server. The AOAC server transmits an access request list corresponding to the activity rules and the current work situation of the user to the access request device so that it can select a desired access request among the list.

  • Publication number: 20090327181
Abstract: Disclosed is a behavior-based method which uses each rater's rating behaviors as the criterion to judge unfair ratings. A behavior refers to the action that a rater gives certain rating under specific context. The behavior-based method regards the rating given by a rater with abnormal behavior as an unfair rating, where abnormal behavior is recognized by comparing a rater's current behavior with his behavior history.

  • Publication number: 20090328148
Abstract: The present invention relates to Group-based trust management scheme (GTMS) of wireless sensor networks. GTMS evaluates the trust of a group of sensor nodes in contrast to traditional trust management schemes that always focused on trust values of individual nodes. This approach gives us the benefit of requiring less memory to store trust records at each sensor node in the network. It uses the clustering attributes of wireless sensor networks that drastically reduce the cost associated with trust evaluation of distant nodes. Uniquely it provides not only a mechanism to detect malicious or faulty nodes, but also provides some degree of a prevention mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20090164524
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a recovery method in a storage system that integrates shadow page and deferred update techniques. In our invention, for update operations that occur during a transaction, update of a page in the buffer is not immediately reflected to the database, but is deferred until the transaction is committed. Instead, we store the updated buffer page in the log volume in the unit of a page. When reading a page that does not exist in the buffer from the disk, we read the up-to-date page from the database or from the log volume. Here, the log table index is used to determine whether the up-to-date page exists in the database or in the log volume and to identify the position of the page stored in the log volume if the up-to-date page exists in the log volume. The proposed invention has the following excellent advantages. It is simple and efficient because the deferred update file does not have to be additionally accessed for correct query processing.

  • Publication number: 20090046678
Abstract: Disclosed are methods for determining the neighborhood local view of a mobile node in time which can facilitate the forwarding decision in the design of network protocols. In conventional mobile ad hoc networks nodes set up local topology view based on periodical received “Hello” messages. The conventional method is replaced with proactive and adaptive methods of predicting locations of nodes based on preserved historical information extracted from received “Hello” messages and constructing neighborhood view by aggregating predicted locations. This method is useful for providing updated and consistent topology local view that a network communication employs to determine optimal forward decisions and improve communication performance.
