  • Patent number: 6654613
Abstract: A device and method for outer-loop power control in a discontinuous transmission mode in a CDMA mobile communication system. In an outer-loop power control method for a non-frame data transmission period of a dedicated control channel (DCCH) which transmits frame data discontinuously, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of power control bits (PCBs) received at a mobile station from a base station is measured for the frame period, and it is determined whether the frame has errors based on the measured SNR. A closed-loop power control threshold is increased if a frame error exists and decreased if no frame errors exist.

  • Publication number: 20030139145
Abstract: A data transmitting method and apparatus with QoS guaranteed in a communication system supporting services with different QoS requirements. The services are classified into a QoS service and a non-QoS service and discriminately processed according to the classification. To maximize the efficiency of transmission links, the data rate of a service is dynamically controlled according to the state of the transmission links. Furthermore, the transmission links are prioritized to guarantee the quality of the QoS service even when data congestion occurs and data burstness is regulated to minimize a congestion period during data transmission. Therefore, QoS guarantee is maximized according to services in a communication system supporting data service.

  • Publication number: 20030128674
Abstract: A traffic channel transmission device for a CDMA communication system using a plurality of coding rates and orthogonal codes, determines a present channel condition and adaptively selects a coding rate and an orthogonal code according to the determination. In the device, a channel receiver receives a channel signal and a controller analyzes the received signal to decide an environment of a channel in service and generates a coding rate select signal and orthogonal code information according to the decision result. A channel transmitter includes a channel encoder for encoding transmission data at a coding rate selected according to the coding rate select signal and an orthogonal modulator for generating an orthogonal code according to the orthogonal code information to spread the encoded data with the generated orthogonal code, whereby the channel transmitter adaptively encodes and spreads the transmission data according to the channel environment.

  • Publication number: 20030129988
Abstract: A QoS-based call admission system and method for a mobile communication system. To establish a call for a mobile station according to the QoS of the call, upon request of setup of a call requiring a QoS guarantee, a base transceiver station determines whether a channel element is available. In the presence of an available channel element, the base transceiver station determines whether a remaining bandwidth can support a data rate required to guarantee the QoS. If the data rate is supported, the base transceiver station assigns the channel element and connects its intra switch to a base station controller. Then the base transceiver station transmits a call accept response signal to the base station controller.

  • Publication number: 20030086427
Abstract: A method and apparatus for retransmitting packet data lost during its transmission from a BSC to a BTS in a mobile communication system. The BTS sequentially receives packets from the BSC and determines whether there is a lost packet. • Patent number: 6512931
Abstract: A method for controlling the transmission power of the reverse common channel for a mobile station in a CDMA communication system. In the method, the mobile station transmits a preamble signal at predetermined periods with increasing transmission power. Upon receipt of an acknowledge signal from a base station, the mobile station accesses the reverse common channel. In order to avoid multiple mobile stations from simultaneously generating increasingly powerful and interfering transmissions, the method generates two transmission power control signals: one based on the measured strength of a signal received from the base station and the other based on an accumulated value of power control commands transmitted by the base station. These two signals are accumulated and used to control the preamble signal.

  • Patent number: 6459693
Abstract: A device and method for cancelling code interference in a receiver of a CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) communication system simultaneously using orthogonal codes and quasi-orthogonal codes are provided. In a receiver according to an embodiment of the present invention, a channel estimator produces a channel estimation value of a pilot channel signal spread by an orthogonal code through despeading. A quasi-orthogonal channel receiver receives a channel signal spread by a quasi-orthogonal code, despreads the channel signal, demodulates the despread channel signal by use of the channel estimation value, and provides an output. An interference estimator estimates an interference value of the pilot channel signal with the channel signal spread by the quasi-orthogonal code by obtaining a correlation value between the orthogonal code corresponding to a pilot channel and the quasi-orthogonal code corresponding to a quasi-orthogonal channel.
