In addition, necessary time stamps are set for complete Stream Object Units to be erasable to enable on the fly permanent erasure without any additional view into the streams or quick permanent erasure. The hybrid disc includes a label printed surface formed on a substrate, a CD recording surface formed below the label printed surface, having identification information expressing a disc type, and a DVD recording surface formed below the CD recording surface. The DVD playback apparatus irradiates a CD laser beam on an optical disk installed therein. If data is readable from the optical disc, it is checked whether the identification information is recorded in the predetermined recording area. The DVD playback apparatus recognizes the optical disc as the hybrid disc, if the identification information is recorded in the predetermined recording area.

Abstract: A method for temporarily deleting a stream object, a method for restoring stream objects divided by temporary deletion to the original stream object, and an information structure for the methods, and a recording medium storing information for fast permanent deletion of temporarily deleted parts is disclosed. The methods can solved the problem that full restoration cannot be guaranteed in managing and editing (temporarily deleting) a content, which includes a film, music, or other data, using a plurality of units, and fast response is enabled even when a temporarily deleted part is permanently deleted. Also, a method for generating search information when dividing stream objects through temporary deletion/permanent deletion, which has not been disclosed. Using the information structure and restoration method, stream objects divided by temporary deletion are fully restored to their original state before temporary deletion, and temporarily deleted parts can be permanently deleted quickly.

In this multi-session disc, which has a compact disc read only memory (CD-ROM) session, a lead-in area, a lead-out area and a user area, each having a compact disc read only memory (CD-ROM) format, are distinguished and digital versatile disc (DVD) application according to a predetermined file system is recorded in the user area. Therefore, the disc can be used for a music video or a presentation which requires a short reproduction time using a low-priced CD. Also, general CD players can reproduce audio information in an audio CD session, DVD players can reproduce a DVD application in a CD-ROM session, and audio CD players, which support a multi-session CD, can reproduce a DVD application as well as audio information.

Therefore, a low-priced disc can be used for a music video or a presentation which requires only a shorttime to reproduce since the DVD application can be recorded on and reproduced from the disc to obtain multiple functions having high image quality and high sound quality.
