  • Patent number: 9883224
Abstract: To allow a user to temporarily move access to premium content to another location, e.g. outside the vicinity of the home, while adequately protecting the rights of a broadcast content provider, the various examples implement a transfer of an object for an identified right of content usage between premium content reproduction devices and a mobile device. The mobile device enables such transfer to support viewing of the premium content by a user outside of the user's home.

  • Patent number: 9762573
Abstract: Generation and segregation of mobile device biometric application template storage is described. Applications request a memory domain within mobile device storage for storing enrolled templates in the domain. The application calls a secure API associated with the biometric driver and software of the mobile device. As a result, the biometric driver and software does not search a number of domains to locate the enrolled templates that correspond to the mobile application or search all enrolled templates stored in memory. The mobile device applications maintain control of the storage domain and the template. The enrolled template may only be deleted through the controlling mobile device application.

  • Publication number: 20170228235
Abstract: A method is provided for operating a computing device, the method including verifying the contents of a protected portion of a nonvolatile memory included in the computing device, the protected portion including a first protected file that includes first instructions; in response to the protected portion being successfully verified, initiating execution of an operating system kernel, on the computing device, included in a boot portion of the nonvolatile memory, wherein the boot portion is configured to cause the computing device to execute instructions stored in a system portion of the nonvolatile memory under control of the kernel, and the system portion is not included in the protected portion; subsequent to initiating execution of the kernel, locating the first instructions via a first symbolic link to the first protected file, wherein the first symbolic link is stored in one of the system portion or the boot portion; and executing the first instructions under control of the kernel.

  • Patent number: 9524380
Abstract: The examples provided herein relate to digital rights management keys that allow for the presentation of content on output devices of a content presentation device. The examples describe subscriber-specific digital rights management keys that are provided to a subscriber by a mobile network operator instead of a device manufacturer. The digital rights management keys are associated with the subscriber account maintained by the mobile network operator. As a result, the mobile network operator provides the capability to transfer the digital rights management keys between multiple devices because the digital rights management keys are subscriber-specific instead of device-specific.

  • Patent number: 8880876
Abstract: To support authentication of a mobile device, an application server obtains an application identifier and password and creates an encrypted value by encrypting a combination of the password and a lime based value. The application server transmits the application identifier and encrypted value over a communication network to the mobile device as a credential, and the mobile device sends the credential over the network to a secure server providing an application assistance service. The secure server independently computes an encrypted value by encrypting the combination of the password and the time-based value. If the encrypted value front the received credential matches the encrypted value computed by the secure server, that server grants access to the assistance service for the mobile device.
