Abstract: An information signal reproducing apparatus and method is obtained which can reproduce video and audio signal promptly and precisely even if a disc recording medium expands and contracts because of the temperature change or position of a recording and reproducing head is shifted because of the mechanical error. If one of the plural reproduction means cannot reproduce the reproduction data, the reproduction data is restored from the other reproduction data reproduced by the other reproduction means: if n-th reproduction block is not reproduced by a predetermined time or started its reproduction at a predetermined timing, n+1-th block is not reproduced but n+2-th block is reproduced. The video and audio signal thus can be promptly and precisely reproduced in real time from the disc recording medium anytime.

Abstract: A still image signal output apparatus connected to at least one still image filing apparatus is comprised of a first memory for storing a data signal representative of a transmission sequence of the still image signal, a second memory having at least a pair of frame memories each for storing one frame of the still image signal in accordance with the data signal, a third memory for storing a plurality of frames of the still image signal in accordance with the data signal, a processor circuit for controlling a supply of the still image signal stored in the third memory to the second memory and the still image signal stored in the still image filing apparatus to the third memory in accordance with the data signal when a still image signal stored in the second memory is output therefrom.

Abstract: A still picture filing apparatus comprising still picture preparation circuit for preparing a plurality of still pictures and adding identification data to each of such still pictures; still picture memory for storing the plural still pictures with the identification data added thereto respectively; still-picture transmission data preparation circuit for preparing still-picture transmission data indicative of a still picture transmission sequence in accordance with the identification data; transmission command signal generation circuit for generating a transmission command signal to instruct transmission of the still pictures; and a controller responsive to the transmission command signal outputted from the transmission command signal generation circuit and reading out the still pictures from the still picture memory in conformity to the transmission sequence indicated by the still-picture transmission data obtained from the still-picture transmission data preparation circuit.
