  • Patent number: 6386308
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a drive force produced between a road surface and each of two drive wheels of a motor vehicle having a differential disposed between the drive wheels and a drive power source and connecting the drive wheels in a differential manner, and two brakes for braking the respective drive wheels, independently of each other, the apparatus including two wheel speed sensors for detecting the speeds of the respective drive wheels, and a brake control device responsive to the outputs of the sensors, for activating one of the two brakes which corresponds to one of the drive wheels which has a smaller critical value of the drive force with respect to the road surface, to thereby apply a braking torque to the one drive wheel for increasing an apparent value of the drive force of that one drive wheel, in order to increase the actual value of the drive force of the other drive wheel which has a larger critical value of the drive force.

  • Patent number: 6012782
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a left-wheel and a right-wheel braking torque applied to a left and a right wheel of a motor vehicle running on a road surface, respectively, when the vehicle is braked, including a torque changing device which changes each of the left-wheel and right-wheel braking torques, and a controller which controls, in an anti-lock control mode thereof, the torque changing device to prevent each of the left and right wheels from being locked on the road surface, the controller including torque-difference control device for controlling the torque changing device to change at least one of the left-wheel and right-wheel braking torques such that a difference between the left-wheel and right-wheel braking torques is smaller when a deceleration of the vehicle is higher than a threshold value than when the deceleration is not higher than the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 5913377
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a traction control system for a four-wheel drive vehicle, which includes a braking operation detector for detecting operation of a brake pedal, an accelerating operation detector for detecting operation of an accelerator pedal, and a slip detector for detecting a slip of each wheel of the vehicle. A braking force controller is provided for controlling a pressure control apparatus to perform a traction control by supplying the hydraulic braking pressure discharged from an auxiliary pressure source to wheel brake cylinders operatively mounted on the wheels under a slip condition, when the accelerating operation detector detects the operation of the accelerator pedal and the slip detector detects the slip of at least one of the wheels.
