  • Patent number: 7567770
Abstract: An electrophotographic printing apparatus includes a housing, a photoreceptor module located inside the housing that includes a photoreceptor, a raster output system located inside the housing for projecting an electrostatic image onto the photoreceptor, a charging station, a developer station, a transfer station, a pre-fuser transport, and a fusing station. The module may be removed from an operating position inside the housing. The transfer station is connected to the pre-fuser transport so that they are constrained to move as one unit when the photoreceptor module is in its operating position inside the housing but are disconnected when the photoreceptor module is removed from its operating position inside the housing. The transfer module may be mounted so as to be constrained by a pre-fuser transport.

  • Publication number: 20080255472
Abstract: An ovulation-prediction device with an image processing system containing a transmissive test platen for placing saliva samples and a miniature camera for capturing the image of saliva sample at dried state for analyzing the increase of salt content for predicting ovulation. An image processing method with an algorithm described for removing noise in a saliva sample for calculating the density of dark pixels which represents salt content in the sample. A Density Index is defined. Trend curve of Density Index vs. day is established based on the daily saliva analysis in a woman's menstrual cycle for predicting days from the ovulation. Also illustrated are applications of the image processing system in an electrical toothbrush, a dental massager and a portable compact device using a disposable tape cassette for testing saliva samples.

  • Publication number: 20080035002
Abstract: This is a mechanical oil dispenser for use in applying an oil to the surface (or two surfaces in a duplex mode) of printed media to improve its sheet-handling characteristics. This dispenser system has an oil-containing housing or tank with oil ports at the bottom of the tank. The ports are abutting a wick, this wick then disperses oil to an applicator roll which in turn applies oil to one or both surfaces of a printed media. The oil ports and oil flow are controlled by the profile of a cam and shaft in operative connection to said ports. Opening and closing of these oil ports are controlled by a cam shaft movement actuated by the rotation and stopping of the applicator roll.

  • Patent number: 7242894
Abstract: An electrostatographic printing apparatus comprises a charge receptor, and a transfer station for transferring a toner image from the charge receptor to a sheet. The sheet passes through a nip formed between the charge receptor and a moving transfer belt. Upstream of the nip, the belt forms a shallow angle relative to the charge receptor; downstream of the nip, the belt forms a steep angle relative to the charge receptor. This configuration enables self-stripping of the sheet from the transfer belt at the exit of the nip.

  • Publication number: 20070045936
Abstract: A sheet separating mechanism and a method of separating sheets that includes a retard surface carrier that causes a retard surface to apply an alternately higher and lower friction force against the edge of an underlying sheet. The alternation of the higher and lower friction force can be coupled to a vacuum sheet feeder. The retard surface can be translated to present a next portion of the retard surface to the edge of the next underlying sheet with the translation coupled to the vacuum sheet feeder.

  • Publication number: 20070041779
Abstract: Pump toothbrush being provided for maximizing the benefit of brushing with liquid dentifrice by conveniently dispensing the dentifrice incrementally with one-hand to teeth surfaces and spaces between teeth without interrupting the continuous brushing motion. Common pump head and cartridge structure enable dispensing any kind of liquid and paste dentifrices. The pump head is equipped with an elastic compressible button for pumping with thumb and an inlet connector for mounting a refillable piston cartridge. A built-in self-closing slit valve in the brush head prevents backflow and drying of dentifrice material at the spout opening. The slit valve opens and closes automatically with the pumping action. The dispensing mechanism and cartridge structure are applicable to manual and electrical pump toothbrushes which use common cartridges. A toothbrush container having vent-tube and vent-caps is also provided for selective venting and sealing a pump toothbrush.

  • Patent number: 6960170
Abstract: An image processing system for predicting ovulation using a test channel for collecting saliva sample and a miniature camera for capturing the image of the saliva at dried state for analyzing the crystalline patterns for ovulation prediction. A rotary bristle element is attached to the drive head and a notch-like test channel traverses the width of the drive head. A conductivity sensor is mounted on a wall of the test channel for detecting filling and drying of the saliva sample. An algorithm in the microprocessor analyzes the image of the dried saliva and calculates the characteristic line length of line segments of connected saliva dots. A ferning index is also defined and calculated based on the percentage of area coverage of line segments which are exceeding the threshold line length. Trend curves are established based on the daily saliva analysis in a woman's menstrual cycle for predicting days from the ovulation.

  • Publication number: 20050211263
Abstract: For carry-on and storage, a combination toothbrush container providing features for selectively venting and sealing a dentifrice dispensing toothbrush for drying bristles and for preventing hardening of toothpaste in the spout opening of the brush head. The toothbrush container consists of a hollow vent-tubing with vent holes near the top and the bottom end, as well as a top vent-cap and a bottom vent-cap. Both vent-caps have corresponding vent holes and can be twisted to open or close the vent holes of the vent-tubing for air circulation or for sealing the toothbrush in the enclosed air environment. Optionally the top vent-cap is attached with a dental floss dispenser having a scissors-like two-blade cutter assembly for automatically severing a dental floss by the closing action of the cutter lid. Besides, the vent-caps may have dual walls for enhancing the sealing function.

  • Patent number: 6902337
Abstract: A dentifrice dispensing electrical toothbrush using a replaceable dual-channel brush head. The dual-channel brush head has a first channel for housing a drive shaft for bristle oscillation and a second channel for dispensing the dentifrice material. The brush head is mounted on the dual-channel connector of the brush handle which contains a drive mechanism and a pumping mechanism that dispenses dentifrice material from a cartridge in the handle. A manual dispensing configuration uses an external rubber button and an electrical dispensing configuration uses a rotary solenoid for actuating an internal rubber button that applies pumping pressure to the dentifrice material. The latter benefits arthritis sufferers, as no external squeezing action is required.

  • Publication number: 20050025536
Abstract: An apparatus and method for automatically adjusting the timing of a transfer assist blade in an electrostatographic imaging system. The apparatus and method operate by partially toning an area of the photoreceptor and then actuating the transfer assist blade such that it smears at least a portion of the partially toned area. Using an electronic toner area cover sensor system, the amount of smearing can be determined, From this, the timing of engagement of the transfer assist blade with the photoreceptor can be determined and, if necessary, adjusted.

  • Patent number: 6823167
Abstract: A guide system for xerographic printing apparatus introduces paper bearing an unfixed image and having a broad range of basis weights into a fuser nip from a prefuser transport without causing image smear. An entrance baffle is positioned in the path of the paper advancing toward the fuser nip for engagement by the paper's leading edge. The entrance baffle is hinged at its mounting end for swinging movement between a maximal and minimal positions as defined by stop members and is biased into engagement with the minimal stop member. The magnitude of the bias is chosen such that as the lightest basis weight paper engages the entrance baffle, it bends around its free end and is guided into the fuser nip, and such that as the heaviest paper engages the entrance baffle, it forces the entrance baffle toward engagement with the second stop member and itself is guided into the fuser nip.
