    Abstract: The disclosure describes queue management based on queue sets. A queue set comprises a group of packets or packet references that are processed as a single entity or unit. For example, when a queue set reaches the head of a queue in which it is stored, the entire queue set including its packets or packet references is passed for scheduling as a single unit. A queue set provides the benefit of a single operation associated with enqueuing and a single operation associated with dequeuing. Since only one operation on a queue is required for the typical case of several packets in a queue set rather than for every packet, the rate of queue operations may be significantly reduced. A queue set has a target data unit size, for example, a roughly equal number of packet bytes represented by each queue set, regardless of the number of packets referenced by a queue set.

    Abstract: Methods and devices for compressing and uncompressing three color component graphics and/or digital video data for storage to and retrieval from a reduced memory space, while allocating memory space for pixel data special attribute, such as a transparency attribute. 24 bit video data, for example, may be compressed and stored along with 2 bits of transparency data in a 16-bit memory space, without undue loss of fidelity relative to the original graphics and/or video data. The stored and compressed video data may be uncompressed and a correction factor may be selectively applied to each of the three component pixel data. The resulting uncompressed pixel data matches or closely resembles the video data prior to compression and storage. The correction factor may vary depending upon the color space of the graphics and/or video pixel data.

    Abstract: Methods and devices for selectively highlighting one or more regions of arbitrary shape on a display. The method for creating highlight effects in multimedia data (data including video and/or graphics, for example) includes the steps of receiving a video and/or graphics data stream from an input source; performing an arithmetic operation upon at least one color component value of constituent pixels of the data stream that are to be hightlighted to provide a selectively highlighted video and/or graphics data stream; and outputting the selectively highlighted video and/or graphics data stream directly to a display. The arithmetic operation may include addition or subtraction. Because the original multimedia data in memory is not modified or copied in order to create the highlight effects, both memory bandwidth and area are saved. Moreover, once highlighting is turned off, the original (non-highlighted) data may be immediately re-displayed.

    Abstract: A memory device that comprises a planar memory medium and a probe device mounted opposite the planar memory medium. The probe device includes a substrate having a substrate surface and probe cells arrayed on the substrate surface. Each of the probe cells comprises a probe, an auxiliary electrode and a probe driving circuit. The probe is formed in the substrate, includes part of the substrate surface, and additionally includes a conductive needle projecting towards the memory medium. The conductive needle includes a needle tip adjacent the memory medium. The auxiliary electrode is mounted on the probe, and is located between the probe and the memory medium. The auxiliary electrode is disposed substantially parallel to, and spaced from, the substrate surface. The driving circuit is formed in the substrate and projects from the substrate surface towards the memory medium. The probe driving circuit has outputs electrically connected to the auxiliary electrode and the memory medium.

    Abstract: A buffered probing device includes a cantilever-shaped probe having a micro-needle at its tip, and an electric circuit that applies electrical signals between the micro-needle and a probe target to which an electrical stimulus is applied. In one embodiment of the invention, the probe includes a suspension member having a spring constant per unit length that is less than that of a probe body. The micro-needle is formed on the suspension member. In another embodiment of the invention, the electric circuit applies oscillations at a specific frequency to the probe, such that the micro-needle is always or intermittently in contact with the surface of the probe target. As a result, wear of the needle is greatly reduced.

The opaque light shielding layer is located on one of the substrates, and defines a translucent window. The shutter assembly is located in the cavity. The shutter plate is movably mounted adjacent the window by the shutter suspension. The shutter suspension includes elastic support members disposed between the shutter plate and the substrate pair.
