Abstract: The present invention discloses a group based communication method, including: initiating, by a communication initiating client, a connection request containing a recipient identifier to a backstage server; forwarding, by the backstage server, the connection request to a communication recipient client corresponding to the recipient identifier; and establishing, by the communication recipient client, a short connection channel or long connection channel to the communication initiating client according to a type of the connection request and performing a communication supported by the short connection channel or the long connection channel with the communication initiating client. The present invention also discloses a group based communication system and client. The method, system and client provided by the present invention brings out much richer communication and interaction between communicating users, who not only can transmit text data, but also can transmit file and audio/video data.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and system for implementing ring service of IM. The system comprises at least a ring server, a ring user database and a ring file server to realize ring service. The method comprises: configuring, by an IM client A, a ring relationship between messaging events of the IM client A and rings played by an IM client B; acquiring, by the IM client B, the ring relationship; acquiring, by the IM client B, a ring file corresponding to a messaging event of the IM client A according to the ring relationship, and playing the ring file.

Abstract: A method for providing a group chat service includes: creating a chat group including a first member and one or more second members; establishing a P2P connection to each of the second members; receiving audio data uploaded from the second members through the P2P connections; mixing the audio data received and audio data of the first member to generate mixed audio data and transmitting the mixed audio data to the second members through the P2P connections by the first member; receiving by the second members the mixed audio data. The present invention also discloses a system for providing a group chat service. According to the present invention, text chat and audio chat are handled differently, thus the network bandwidth requirement and computer hardware requirement of group chat for forwarding the audio data are lowered, and the data volume transmitted by the network is reduced.
