  • Publication number: 20140352357
Abstract: A furnace for shaping glass sheets for aircraft transparencies using the cut-to-size method includes a preheat and cooling furnace defined as a first furnace, and a shaping furnace. A conveyor geared for reciprocating movement moves a bending iron supporting a glass sheet through the first furnace set to a preheat temperature. The glass sheet supported on the bending iron is heated in the shaping furnace by microwave beams from a gyrotron to heat portions of the glass sheet to be shaped to a complex shape. After the sheet is shaped, the conveyor moves the bending iron supporting the shaped glass sheet from the shaping furnace through the first furnace set to a cooling cycle.

  • Publication number: 20140337358
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media are provided for inferring missing or ambiguous attribute values for entities based on partial information about such entities and/or information about other similar entities as extracted from multiple information sources for generating Web ranking signals for online search. A plurality of heterogeneous input data sources are ingested and combined to produce output data having information content that is more than the sum of its parts. A generic platform is provided where multiple data sources having information content related to entity attributes can be plugged-in without additional changes being necessary to the platform. This generic plugin model for extracting and inferring entity attribute values makes it easy to leverage new data sources as they become available to improve the final inferred attribute data.

  • Publication number: 20140165653
Abstract: A sheet bending device includes a sheet shaping rail having a stationary shaping rail portion mounted on a support member and an articulating shaping rail portion pivotally mounted on the support member for movement from a non-shaping position to a shaping position. A retention member limits movement of a sheet to be shaped relative to the stationary shaping rail portion when the articulating shaping rail portion moves to the shaping position. A “cut-to-size” method is also disclosed to shape a sheet for use in making an aircraft transparency.

  • Publication number: 20140067199
Abstract: A network system for monitoring and storing data of aircraft intelligent windows or windshields to provide useable life of, provide real life performance of, and/or measure characteristics and/or properties of, the windshields forwards the data from sensors mounting the windshield to a window sensing hub having a microprocessor programed to receive and process the data to determine the performance of the windshield and formatting the data in accordance to a preset program, wherein the program includes providing data from the sensors that measures characteristics and properties of the windshield that are active during the period in which the data is taken. An aircraft central maintenance system connected to the window sensing hub receives the formatted information from the window sensing hub and unfiltered or unformatted information, wherein the unfiltered information from the windshield is acted on by the central maintenance system to provide an estimated useable life of the windshield.

  • Publication number: 20130075531
Abstract: An electrical system responsive to overheating and/or electric arcing of an electrically conductive member, e.g. a heating member of an aircraft windshield, includes a first switch in a first current path, and a second switch in a second current path. The first current path is from an electrical power supply through the first switch, through an arc sensor to the heating member to the power supply. The second current path is from a temperature sensor monitoring the temperature of the heating member through the second switch to a temperature controller. When the temperature of the heating member is at or above a predetermined value, the temperature controller causes the first switch to open. When there is arcing, the second switch is moved to the open position. The temperature controller senses that the second switch is open and causes the first switch to open.

  • Patent number: 7937389
Abstract: The method and system of the invention involves processing each new document (20) coming into the system into a document vector (16), and creating a document vector with reduced dimensionality (17) for comparison with the data model (15) without recomputing the data model (15). These operations are carried out by a first computer (11) while a second computer (12) updates the data model (18), which can be comprised of an initial large group of documents (19) and is premised on the computing an initial data model (13, 14, 15) to provide a reference point for determining document vectors from documents processed from the data stream (20).

  • Patent number: 7822725
Abstract: A method for storing data with a first storage system and a second storage system, wherein the second storage system is used for backing up the data from the first storage system, wherein the first storage system comprises a file system on which the data that is to be backed up is stored, with a client that monitors the first storage system, and a server that administers the second storage system, with the method comprising the following steps: checking the files on the first storage system for any changes by the client, depending on one or several events; if changes have been detected, determining a hash value in relation to the file, which hash value is structured such that the identity of the file can be determined, transmitting the hash value to the server, checking, by means of the hash value, by the server as to whether the identical file is stored on the second storage system, and if the file already exists, the file is not requested, but an annotation is made to the effect that the file is stored

  • Patent number: 7203918
Abstract: A method for performing a signal integrity and delay check for circuit simulations is disclosed. Nodes of the circuit are selected and an optimization parameter is determined. The optimization parameter may be either the setup or hold time for the circuit simulation. The current optimization parameter is determined to be the average of the current minimum and maximum optimization parameters. A primary criteria is calculated in response to the optimization parameters. The primary criteria may be a bisection error of the circuit simulation. If the primary criteria converges to a prescribed range, then the measurement results from the simulation are parsed. If the primary criteria does not converge, then the circuit is simulated using the current optimization parameter. For a signal integrity check, switch difference errors are identified and used to set a new optimization parameter. For a delay check, delay difference errors are identified and used to set a new optimization parameter.

  • Patent number: 6535126
Abstract: An electrochromic window assembly includes a security system for monitoring breakage of the electrochromic window assembly. Control circuitry is connected to the electrochromic window assembly for monitoring an electrical characteristic of one or more conductive coatings within the electrochromic window assembly, such as electrical resistance. Upon detecting a change in the electrical resistance, such as that caused by a break in one or more conductive coating, an alarm signal is generated and is sent to an alarm trigger circuit for activating an alarm. A method for monitoring penetration or breakage of an electrochromic window assembly is also provided, which method involves applying electrical activation to an electrochromic assembly and monitoring for a change in an electrical characteristic based on the applied electrical potential. Electrochromic window assemblies incorporating security alarm features in accordance with the present invention are particularly useful in automobile applications.
