Abstract: A method for presenting a double byte character on a display device of an AV decoding/playing/copying system utilizing an on-screen display function to update a frame of the AV decoding/playing/copying system. The method includes storing at least one type of video source files and DBCS files in a storage medium. The file system of the storage medium is accessed to receive the file name length of the video source file and the internal codes of each DBCS file in the storage medium. The physical location of the internal code of the required character in the storage medium is then calculated. A character corresponding to the internal code is then captured from a corresponding DBCS file according to the physical location. Finally, the original information of OSD is updated by the character to update a frame of the display device.

Abstract: A method for copy protection of DVD recorder with a microprocessor connected with a primary chipset in a DVD recorder. First, the microprocessor generates three bytes stored into a buffer. The buffer is a data memory in the microprocessor. The three bytes in the buffer are then read to the primary chipset in the DVD recorder. The first byte is checked to see whether it is wrong or not. If there is no error, the other two bytes are received, and the three bytes are then sent back to the microprocessor, which checks whether the three bytes are correct or not for at least once. If the three bytes are correct, the primary chipset in the DVD recorder is determined to be genuine, and the DVD recorder can record.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for recording and displaying double-byte font set (DBCS) on a digital recording/playing device. This method is suitable for playing and editing the title or the filename of the compact disk (CD). This method comprises: storing a font file including various languages in a storage medium to be read by the digital recording/playing device; building a font recording space in a compact disk-recordable (CD-R); recording the font file in the font recording space; inputting an inside code to specify a font code in the font file; recording the inside code in the compact disk-recordable (CD-R); searching the font code in the font file mapping to the inside code; the digital recording/playing device reading the searched font code; and updating the on screen display (OSD) based on the font code.
