Patent number: 8203946Abstract: A system and method, e.g., Voice Proxy Server (VPS), is described for managing Voice over IP (VoIP) services between a NAT enabled private network and a public network such as the Internet. The VPS acts like the Call Agent to the nodes in the private network and it represents an embedded voice client to the real Call Agent in the public network. Each logical line of the VPS corresponds to a real voice line in the private node. VoIP signaling messages may be carried in the payload of the IP packets. VPS will properly translate IP address and/or port number information in the payload to correctly route the signaling data between networks. Additionally, VPS will forward the incoming Real Time Protocol (RTP) packets to the real destination in the private network.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2008Date of Patent: June 19, 2012Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventors: Yue-Chuan Chu, Ningming Hua, John F. Patent number: 8014386Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for wireless telecommunication in a packet-based network comprising a Software Radio Port (SRP) which functions as a radio base station and a VoIP gateway to interconnect the wireless network with the VoIP packet network. Together with a Network Server Platform (NSP) and VoIP call-server, the SRP combines mobile call processing signaling with the VoIP call signaling to establish calls between the mobile and VoIP device or between mobiles. The SRP establishes the voice path to the mobile station over the air and the RTP media path to a party over a packet network for a call. These two paths are interconnected at the SRP so that an end-to-end voice path is established.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2009Date of Patent: September 6, 2011Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventors: Yue-Chuan Chu, Ningming Hua

Patent number: 7907550Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for providing conference call services in a VoIP local network. A VoIP communication station may be conferenced into a VoIP call between at least two other communication stations. In one embodiment, a Voice Conference Server device (VCS) receives a “join-call’ signal or indication from a VoIP phone wishing to conference into a VoIP connection. The VoIP connection may be between at least one VoIP phone in a local network and a communication station such as a PSTN phone in a public network. The VCS sets up an RTP voice path and conferences in the VoIP communication station providing the “join-call” signal or indication.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2002Date of Patent: March 15, 2011Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventors: Yue-Chuan Chu, Ningming Hua

Patent number: 6374102Abstract: The instant invention discloses a method and system for providing a novel wireless centrex service that untethers subscribers from the immobility associated with traditional desktop telephones. Essentially, the present invention extends the benefits of wireless voice and data services to subscribers having a need to move within a plurality of localities such as business and hospital campuses. In accordance with the invention, a wireless telephone subscriber can use a standard cellular/PCS telephone as a wireless extension of their desktop phone, while in the proximity of a miniature radio base station capable of communicating with the PCS/cellular telephone. The advantage of such a system is that a subscriber can use the same cellular/PCS telephone that provides service in the public network in the wireless centrex environment. Additionally, the wireless centrex system provides services and features which are similar to those offered to regular centrex telephone subscribers.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1999Date of Patent: April 16, 2002Assignee: AT+T Corp.Inventors: Ronald J.
