    Abstract: A positioning method includes: first, receiving wireless signals respectively at the positions of a number of training positions so as to extract a number of signal characteristics; next, establishing a positioning database according to the relationship between the training positions and the corresponding positioning module; then, classifying the training positions and the corresponding signal characteristics into a plurality of clusters, wherein when conducting positioning on a positioning node, a characteristic matching is conducted to find out a major cluster most similar to the positioning node; after that, conducting the characteristic matching between the positioning node and the training positions in the major cluster to decide a most-likely position of the positioning node. In addition, the present invention also provides a positioning system using the above-mentioned method.

    Abstract: A method for surface treating a substrate includes following steps. Firstly, a substrate including a metallic surface capable of being electroplated with a metal coating is provided. Secondly, a first metal coating is electroplated onto the metallic surface of the substrate. Thirdly, an oxidized metal film is formed to cover the first metal coating. The first metal coating of substrate is blasted using quartz sand. The oxidized metal film is removed from the first metal coating. The second metal coating is electroplated onto the first metal coating.

    Abstract: Disclosed is directed to an automatic lighting control system and method. The system includes at least a lighting device, at least a sensor, and a decision module. Each lighting device is adjustable and has a remote control function. A wireless sensor network is configured by the one or more sensors. Each sensor may sense a corresponding luminance and returns the luminance to the decision module in a wireless manner. The decision module may dynamically adjust one or more lighting devices to a suitable luminance by referring to system information, the returned luminance and user's demands.

    Abstract: A method for a mobile communication device to select a charging scheme is disclosed. The method can be implemented by a mobile communication device connecting to one of a plurality of foreign networks. The mobile communication device builds a connection with a home network through the connected foreign network. The home network sends charging scheme information to the mobile communication device by a communication method and the mobile communication device sends information of a selected charging scheme of a selected foreign network to the home network by the communication method. The mobile communication device then obtains services of the home network with the selected charging scheme through the selected foreign network.

    Abstract: A search method of a roaming service for registering a mobile station to a network service includes searching for a home public land mobile network (HPLMN) when the mobile station is first switched on or recovering from lack of service, or sorting an available public land mobile network (PLMN) list, or using a scaling method to obtain a temporary timer period for a periodic search. Sorting the available PLMN list includes sorting according to a location-based order of preferred PLMNs, or sorting according to a data transfer speed supported by each PLMN. The scaling method includes examining a change ratio in the available PLMN list, or a data transfer speed of the RPLMN, or a status of Mobile Country Code (MCC) in order to obtain the temporary timer period.

    Abstract: A system for measuring the performance of a mobile network includes a field measurement device, a server and a built-in command set. The field measurement device continuously scans an assigned frequency of the mobile network to collect measurement data. The server remotely controls the field measurement device by sending the command script via the mobile network to the field measurement device. The built-in command set includes predefined trouble call containing the situation of a low quality event, and indicators for the low quality event is detected by referring to, for example, received signal strength indicator (RSSI). One test sample for any indicator is an average value in a certain user-defined period, and the low quality event will be triggered if the test sample count or ratio reaches a user-defined threshold of any indicator in a judgment window which is a user-defined duration to decide whether the event happens or not.

    Abstract: A system for measuring the performance of a mobile network includes a field measurement device with a global positioning system and a server having application software. The field measurement device is capable of continuously scanning an assigned frequency of the mobile network to collect measurement data by executing a command script so that the measurement data with geographic location is recorded in a log file. The server is capable of remotely control the field measurement device by sending the command script via the mobile network to the field measurement device for execution and in response receiving the log file from the field measurement device via the mobile network, the log file is imported into the application software to provide analysis and tuning of the mobile network. A method using the foregoing system for measuring the performance of a mobile network is also provided.
