Abstract: A mobile telephone unit has a cavity for receiving a supplementary module, which is enabled to store and decompress media data files, especially audio data files in the MP3 format. The mobile telephone unit includes a data transfer port for connection directly to a corresponding data transfer port of the supplementary module, so that the mobile telephone unit can functionally interact with the supplementary module, to transfer data to the mobile telephone unit and/or from the mobile telephone.

Abstract: A system for operating a plurality of mobile image capturing devices, the system comprising: a first image capturing device comprising a transmission module for transmission of an instruction from the first image capturing device to at least one other image capturing device, the transmission being over a wireless medium; the instruction causing each image capturing device to capture an image at a predetermined synchronization.

Abstract: There is provided a portable media player with a plurality of audio signal outputs, including: a storage device; and a controller for processing data in the storage device. Preferably, the data is processed and channeled by the controller into each of the plurality of the audio signal outputs. The data processed and channeled by the controller into each of the plurality of the audio signal outputs may be identical or different. Preferably, the storage device is either solid state memory or a hard disk drive. A wireless transceiver and antennae may also be included in the media player. A channel selector may be present in the media player.

Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for enabling remote control of an appliance by use of a network. The apparatus comprises a wireless receiver and transmitter for receiving a remote control command signal from a remote control unit in a non-network format; and a processor for encoding the remote control command into a network protocol and sending the encoded remote control command over the network to the appliance. The remote control unit is an infrared remote control unit, and the wireless receiver and transmitter is an infrared receiver and transmitter. The apparatus is integral with a fitting for an electrical appliance and the network is an electrical supply network.

Abstract: A method for forming a panoramic image using a camera. The method comprises taking a first photograph using the camera. On a display of the camera a blending area is formed. The blending area includes a part of a first image of the first photograph displayed on the display. The camera is moved before being prepared to take a second photograph. In the blending area only, a pixel matching process is performed for determining an alignment of the portion of the first image in the blending area and part of a second image of the second photograph in the blending area. A camera is also disclosed.

Abstract: A portable device comprising a casing with at least one function key, a recess in a wall of the casing for accommodating a connector when the connector is not in use, a connector cable for permanently connecting the connector to an internal circuitry of the portable device; the recess being sized, shaped and located to as to not interfere with operation of the plurality of function keys; the connector, when in the recess, having a side surface substantially coplanar with the wall. The connector and the connector cable are for enabling: data transfer both ways between the portable device and another device, and one-way power from the another device to the portable device, when the another device is a host for the portable device; and data transfer both ways between the potable device and the another device, and power both ways between the portable device and the another device, when the portable device is the host for the another device.
