Abstract: A light emitting device comprises: a light emitting element (20); a first metal board (11) that includes a mount portion (111) on which the light emitting element (20) is mounted and a reflection portion (112) which is formed outside the mount portion (111) to reflect light from the light emitting element (20); a second metal board (12) that is electrically connected to the light emitting element (20) via a wire (50); a metal plated layer (15) that is formed on a surface of the metal boards (11), (12); and a seal resin (40) that is formed on the metal boards (11), (12) to seal at least the light emitting element (20); wherein at least the reflection portion (112) is provided with a protection layer (35) which is lower than the seal resin (40) in gas permeability, is transparent or has a reflectance near the metal plated layer (15).

Abstract: A direct-type backlight device for a non-self-luminous image display panel has a light-emitting area corresponding to a display area of the image display panel. The light-emitting area is arranged by combining a plurality of backlight substrates each of which is provided with (i) a color sensor for detecting an incident light intensity and (ii) red, green, and blue LEDs whose respective light intensities are controlled in accordance with a detection result obtained by the color sensor. This arrangement allows reduction of brightness unevenness entirely in the light-emitting area of the backlight device.

Abstract: A light-emitting device includes a light-emitting element emitting primary light and a wavelength conversion portion absorbing a part of the primary light and emitting secondary light having a wavelength equal to or longer than the wavelength of the primary light. The wavelength conversion portion includes a plurality of green or yellow light-emitting phosphors and a plurality of red light-emitting phosphors. The green or yellow light-emitting phosphor is implemented by at least one selected from a specific europium (II)-activated silicate phosphor (A-1) and a specific cerium (III)-activated silicate phosphor (A-2). The red light-emitting phosphor is implemented by a specific europium (II)-activated nitride phosphor (B). The light-emitting device emitting white light at efficiency and color rendering property higher than in a conventional example can thus be provided.
