  • Publication number: 20240085514
Abstract: Techniques are provided for utilizing reference signals transmitted by network stations to determine the orientation of a wireless node. An example method for determining an orientation of a user equipment includes determining a first location associated with the user equipment, determining a second location associated with a first wireless node, receiving, with the user equipment, a radio frequency signal transmitted from the first wireless node, determining two measurements based at least in part on the first location, the second location, and angle of arrival information associated with the radio frequency signal, determining a gravity vector based on inertial measurements obtained with the user equipment, and computing the orientation of the user equipment based at least in part on the gravity vector and the two measurements.

  • Patent number: 11930292
Abstract: The present application provides a method and apparatus for monitoring a device state. The method includes: detecting one or more current values of one or more state parameters; for each state parameter of the one or more state parameters, determining whether the current value of the state parameter changes relative to a recorded value of the state parameter; and reporting the current value of the state parameter to a client through a connection between the present device and the client in response to determining that the current value of the state parameter changes relative to the recorded value of the state parameter.

  • Patent number: 11818622
Abstract: Systems and methods according to aspects of the invention verify requests for information over a network. Computing devices communicating over a network transmit numerous signals with various types of information including spatial information, temporal information, device-specific information, and transmission specific information. This information may be used to generate statistical records of valid request for information. Various combinations of these signals may be used to determine whether a request for information is a valid request based on the statistical records associated with the signals. Where a request for information has been verified, the system and method may provide the information. Where the request for information has not been verified, the system and method may deny the request for information. Thus the system and method may be used to prevent and block scraping and spamming attacks.

  • Patent number: 10612978
Abstract: Technical solutions are described for testing a light emitting diode (LED) device. An example method includes driving, by a controller, a filter unit to filter a light from the LED device using a first filter. The method further includes, in response to a sensor not receiving a measurable signal because of the first filter, driving, by the controller, the filter unit to filter the light using a second filter. Further, in response to the sensor not receiving the measureable signal because of the second filter, the method includes outputting an indication that the LED device is rejected. Further, in response to the sensor receiving the measureable signal, the method includes outputting an indication that the LED device is of a color representative of the second filter.

  • Patent number: 9239929
Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system of quarantining user location information receives from a user device user location information that includes personally identifiable user data and user position data associated with one or more geographic positions of the user. The user location information is temporarily stored in a quarantine data storage database for a predetermined quarantine time, during such time it can be used for various analysis. After the quarantine time, personally identifiable user data of the user location information is filtered out before the user position data is sent for long-term storage to a filtered data storage system.

  • Patent number: 9000937
Abstract: An alert server is operative to notify users when they are in proximity within one another. The alert server may determine to alert a first user of the proximity of a second user when the second user is in an unusual location. The alert server may determine that the second user is in an unusual location when the second user is outside his or her routine geographic location. The alert server may determine whether the second user is outside his or her routine geographic location by assigning confidence values to geographic locations that the second user has previously visited. The alert sent to the first user may be in the form of a text message, e-mail, or other electronic communication. The first user may receive the alert on a mobile device, such as a cellphone, smartphone, netbook, or other mobile device.

  • Patent number: 8370340
Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system of building a user reputation database for use in a user location data system. The method and system receive user location information containing personally identifiable data of a user and user position data. The user position data may or may not represent one or more actual geographic positions of the user. The user location information is temporarily stored and analyzed to provide a spam score associated with the user position data indicative of whether the user position data represents the actual geographic positions of the user. Data indicative of the spam score is also provided to user reputation database to store a user reputation score associated with the user.

  • Patent number: 6738976
Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus for minimizing run-time exception handling overhead from invoked function calls. The present invention novelly minimizes execution of exception checking code and exception handling code in a caller when the callee is a compiled method. In the present embodiment the callee novelly treats the caller as a compiled method thereby enabling the callee to return to the exception handling label of the caller if an exception needs to be handled and to return and continue normal code execution if an exception does not need to be handled. Thereby the present invention minimizes execution of exception handling code in the caller. Further, the present embodiment novelly creates code with the layout of a compiled method when a caller is not a compiled method so that a compiled callee may treat its caller as a compiled method.
