  • Patent number: 7904007
Abstract: A toner cartridge is a developer storage container for storing toner (developer) in a hollow cylindrical section that is driven to rotate on its axis so that the stored toner is discharged from an outlet. The cylindrical section has an inner circumferential surface provided with a plurality of liner protruding portions that extend in a direction tilted with respect to a rotation direction of the cylindrical section. Moreover, the toner cartridge includes a stirring member capable of moving in the cylindrical section so as to collide with the protruding portions. This makes it possible to stably supply a developer and to realize an inexpensive developer storage container whose size can be reduced.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 31, 2007
Date of Patent: March 8, 2011
    Assignee: Sharp Kabushiki Kaisha
    Inventors: Yuichiro Takesue, Takeshi Ohkawa

  • Patent number: 6678482
Abstract: An object of the invention is to make an exact judgment on suitability of a replaceable component such as a toner supplying container with use of an existing mechanism of an image forming apparatus, without additionally providing a data storage component designed for a consumable product which is detachably attached to the apparatus, or a data reading component to be placed in the image forming apparatus main body. In an incorporated control section, a specific part of a replaceable component, which is placed on an original platform prior to being loaded into the apparatus, is optically scanned to read image information, and, based on the reading result, whether or not the replaceable component is suitable for the image forming apparatus is judged.

  • Patent number: 6420079
Abstract: An electrophotographic toner constituting a dual component is composed of toner base particles and fine inorganic particles having a volume mean diameter of 250 to 600 nm with a specific surface area of 0.25 to 0.5 m2/g for serving as an abrasive, and is characterized in that 1.5 to 2 parts by weight of the abrasive is externally added to 100 parts by weight of the toner base particles and made to be deposited over the toner base particle surface. Also, the above electrophotographic toner is used for an electrophotographic apparatus which includes a photoreceptor cleaning device located above the level that passes through the center of the photoreceptor drum.

  • Patent number: 6214511
Abstract: A toner, wherein at least a part of inorganic fine particles is fixed on the surface of core particles made of a binder resin containing a colorant, by applying heat in a hot air flow, is designed so as to satisfy the following expression: 2.0×[6/(&rgr;D)]≧S≧1.1×[6/(&rgr;D)]  (1) where S: toner BET specific surface area, &rgr;: toner specific gravity, and D: toner volume average particle size. Thus, it becomes possible to manufacture a toner that is superior in various properties in a stable manner.

  • Patent number: 5974280
Abstract: An image forming device includes an optical system for forming an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive body by exposure of an original in light, a development system for developing the electrostatic latent image, and a control system for controlling the optical system and the development system. The control system detects the concentration of a toner in a developing agent tank, calculating a difference between the detected toner concentration and a predetermined toner concentration, replenishing the toner to the developing agent tank until the detected toner concentration makes a recovery to the predetermined toner concentration, clocking a time period for the recovery and controlling at least one of the amount of the exposure light and the amount of the toner adhering to a photosensitive body based on the clocked time period for the recovery.

  • Patent number: 5839018
Abstract: The image forming apparatus of the invention controls the toner density by any one of the following configurations: by correcting the toner density of the developer in association with the agitation total; by controlling a process parameter so that the density of a toner patch formed on the photoreceptor corresponds to a prescribed density value and determining that developing performance of the developer is improved and canceling the toner density correction when the process parameter reaches the prescribed value; by changing the toner density reference value when the variation as to the charger output is equal to or greater than a first predetermined value and maintaining the changed toner density reference value until the variation of the charger output again becomes equal to or greater than the first predetermined value; or by prohibiting toner supply for a constant duration to prevent excessive toner supply if time from the end of the last operation of the developing unit to the start of a next operation
