  • Publication number: 20230177574
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an information processing device includes a processor that is configured to specify a store based on position information for a user and acquire commodity identification information for identifying a commodity to be purchased at the store. The processor also acquires an image of a discount symbol on the commodity. The discount symbol is related to a discount on the commodity at the store. The discount symbol may be affixed to the commodity as a sticker, seal, or the like in some examples. The processor performs image analysis on the image based on analysis settings specific to the store to acquire information related to the discount for the commodity. The processor then registers the commodity in a sales transaction based on the commodity identification information and the information related to the discount.

  • Publication number: 20230077472
Abstract: A wireless tag that is not guaranteed to be located within a predetermined area is prevented from being read as a valid wireless tag. A communication device includes: an antenna; a reference tag; a reception unit; and a determination unit. The reception unit uses the antenna to sequentially receive signals wirelessly transmitted from a reference tag whose relative position to the antenna is known and a reading target tag different from the reference tag. The determination unit determines that the signal transmitted from the reading target tag and received by the reception unit is invalid based on a phase of the signal transmitted from the reference tag and received by the reception unit.

  • Patent number: 10867485
Abstract: A merchandise registration device according to an embodiment includes an image capturing unit that captures an image of a merchandise item. A memory stores a merchandise recognition dictionary. A processor determines whether a merchandise identification code can be extracted from the captured image. If the merchandise identification code cannot be extracted from the captured image, the processor identifies, based on the captured image, whether the merchandise item in the captured image is a first merchandise type having a merchandise identification code or a second merchandise type without the merchandise identification code. If the merchandise item is identified as the second merchandise type, the processor performs a merchandise recognition process including calculating feature data from the captured image and recognizing the merchandise item by comparing the calculated feature data to the merchandise recognition dictionary.

  • Patent number: 10726682
Abstract: A checkout apparatus according to an embodiment includes a weighing scale that measures a weight on a surface thereof. A hand-held scanner acquires commodity identifying information corresponding to a commodity at an arbitrary position. A fixed scanner acquires commodity identifying information corresponding to a commodity at a reading position. In an initial state, if a change in the measured weight on the surface is greater than the predetermined amount when no commodity identifying information has been received in the initial state, a processor receives the commodity identifying information acquired by the first information input device. The processor determines whether a change in the measured weight is within a predetermined range based on the acquired commodity identifying information. If the change is within the predetermined range, the processor registers the commodity corresponding to the acquired commodity identifying information.
