  • Patent number: 4692779
Abstract: A liquid crystal, particularly a ferroelectric liquid crystal, is interposed between an electroconductive member and an electric charge accepting member to form a liquid crystal device. In the first step of image formation, a uniform polarity of charge is imparted to the entirety or a part of the electric charge accepting member whereby the liquid crystal is uniformly oriented to its first stable state under a uniform electric field thus formed therethrough. In the second step, the reverse polarity of charges are given imagewise to the charge accepting member, whereby the liquid crystal is reoriented imagewise to the second stable state to form an image.

  • Patent number: 4682880
Abstract: An electrostatic latent image is formed on a rotatable latent image bearing member and is developed with a developer into a visualized image on the latent image bearing member. The visualized image is transferred by pressure to a rotatable visualized image bearing member. Those steps are repeated with different color developers to form on the same visualized image bearing member a multi-color image which corresponds to one final image to be recorded. The latent image bearing member and the visualized image bearing member are cooperative to form a nip therebetween, through which a recording material is passed so that the multi-color image is transferred all at once to a recording material. The multi-color image may be a full-color or pictorial image or a combination of monochromatic images of different colors.

  • Patent number: 4658275
Abstract: An image information signal is applied to an ion generator, which generates ions in accordance with the image information signal and extracts the ions to deposit them on one side of an image bearing member. An electric charge having the polarity opposite to that of those ions is injected into toner particles, so that the toners are deposited onto the other side of the image bearing member by the attraction force with the ions, and therefore, an image is formed on the image bearing member in accordance with the image information. The ion generator includes a first electrode, a second electrode, a third electrode so disposed that the second electrode lies between the first electrode and the third electrode, a first dielectric member between the first electrode and the second electrode, a second dielectric member between the second electrode and the third electrode. The second dielectric member and the third electrode are provided with plural apertures.

  • Patent number: 4502061
Abstract: A novel image recording system using particulate developer. The particulate developer is accumulated in a container. A developer carrying member is disposed movably in contact with the accumulated developer. At the position where the particulate developer is to be flowed out from the container onto the carrying member there is provided a gate member. An important feature of the invention resides in the function of this gate member. To the gate member is given an action force which normally intends to block the flow of the developer from the container to the carrying member. Only when a record of image is formed, the developer is imagewisely put on the carrying member against the blocking force thereby forming a recorded image on the carrying member at the downstream side of the gate member.

  • Patent number: 4491855
Abstract: A method and apparatus utilizing a controller having a plurality of openings or slit-like openings to control the passage of charged particles and to record a visible image by the charged particles directly on an image receiving member. The present invention is an improved device for supplying the charged particles to a control electrode and has made high-speed and stable recording possible. The improvement lies in that the charged particles are supported on a supporting member and an alternating electric field is applied between the supporting member and the control electrode. Thus, it has become possible to sufficiently supply the charged particles to the control electrode without scattering them.
