  • Patent number: 6046827
Abstract: A film image reading system includes: a number of photoelectric conversion elements for converting a light image of a film image to an analog image signal indicative of a magnitude corresponding to a light amount; an exposure controller for controlling exposure time of the conversion elements; a converter for converting the analog image signal to a digital image signal; a signal correcting device for correcting the digital image signal to a proper output image signal in accordance with a reference relationship between digital image signal and output image signal, the reference relationship having a first range for variables of digital image signal and a second range for variables of output image signal; and a range changing device for changing the first range of the reference relationship in accordance with a controlled exposure time.

  • Patent number: 5872643
Abstract: A film image reproducing apparatus includes an image pick-up device which picks up a film frame image recorded on a film to generate image data; an information reader which reads information about photographing conditions of the film frame image; a reproducing area designator which designates a reproducing area of the film frame image; a measuring device which measures a domestic light condition having to do with the designated reproducing area when the film frame image is picked up; a correcting device which corrects image data corresponding to the designated reproducing area using either the domestic light condition of the designated reproducing area or an undomestic light condition not having to do with the designated reproducing area; and a judging device which judges based on the information which is proper to use for image data correction, the domestic light condition or the undomestic light condition.

  • Patent number: 5751451
Abstract: A film image reading system includes: an image pickup device which picks up a light image of an image recorded on a film to produce raw image signals corresponding to three colors of the light image and indicative of magnitudes corresponding to light amounts of their respective three colors; a signal processor which processes raw image signals of three colors in accordance with a reference to produce output image signals corresponding to three colors of the light image, the output image signals being operable to ensure a proper color balance; a first calculator which calculates differences between a high magnitude image signal of a particular color and respective high magnitude image signals of the remaining colors; and a second calculator which calculates differences between an average magnitude image signal of the particular color and average magnitude image signals of the remaining colors; and a reference changer which changes the reference of the signal processor based on differences calculated by the fir

  • Patent number: 5138354
Abstract: A camera equipped with detectors for detecting: a) the photographer is holding the camera grip, and b) the photographer is looking into the viewfinder of the camera. When both are detected, which can be assumed that he is taking a photograph in the near future, a predetermined operation of the camera (e.g., an automatic program zooming, an autofocusing, a photometering, etc.) is started. The detectors can also be used for ending a predetermined operation of the camera. When the photographer no longer holds the grip or when he no longer looks into the viewfinder, it is assumed that he is not going to take a photograph and hence it is better not to continue some proper operation for conserving the battery power. For confirming the judgment, it is preferred to check the detection twice in any case.
