  • Patent number: 8270726
Abstract: An authentication apparatus is provided. A forgery determination threshold is determined on the basis of two types of parameters, a forgery similarity and a forgery difficulty. If a calculated value for an object under test is lower than or equal to the forgery determination threshold, then, it is determined that the object is a biologic object. Thus, easiness in impersonation with a fake of a biologic object that is easy to forge may be reduced, and a false rejection due to a determination in which a biologic object is erroneously determined as a fake may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 8031916
Abstract: The biometric information input apparatus comprises a fingerprint sensor which detects biometric information, and moisture absorbing units and which are arranged adjacent to the fingerprint sensor and absorb moisture. The moisture absorbing units and have a groove structure which generates a capillary phenomenon. The fingerprint sensor is of the sweep type which scans biometric information through relative displacement with the finger, and is formed in parallel with the direction of relative displacement between the groove structure and the finger. The groove structure has a width smaller than the pitch of the ridges of an average fingerprint.

  • Patent number: 7965874
Abstract: When an image representing biological information is input from a biological information input unit 10, such as a fingerprint sensor or the like, for obtaining an image representing biological information, such as a fingerprint or the like, statistical quantities, such as the mean value and standard deviation of the pixel values of the sampled image, are calculated. Then, using the statistical quantities, a region containing biological information is extracted, its sensitivity variations are eliminated and the effects of stains, such as a residual fingerprint is nullified, thereby generating a favorable biological image with high contrast.

  • Patent number: 7877616
Abstract: A data management system including a storage and activating an application so that the application accesses contents in the storage and processes the contents. The data management system also monitors access of the application to the contents by associating information for the application brought into an activated status with information for the accessed contents. The data management system also enciphers the contents with the application information when the activated application writes the contents into the storage while deciphering the contents with the application information when the activated application reads out the contents.

  • Patent number: 7433574
Abstract: A stream data recording apparatus records stream data in such a manner that the head of each video coding unit and the head of a series of audio coding unit corresponding to each video coding unit contained in the stream data coincide with the heads of access units of a recording medium. Utilizing the structure of stream data so recorded and the random accessibility of the recording medium, a stream data replaying apparatus and a stream data editing apparatus replay or edit the stream data freely on a video coding unit basis. By replacing stream data recorded on the recording medium on a video coding unit basis, the recording apparatus realizes endless recording that does not require complex file manipulation.

  • Patent number: 7418393
Abstract: A frame, which is the data unit, is extracted without decoding MPEG audio data. Then, a scale factor included in the frame is extracted and an evaluation function is calculated based on the scale factor. If the value of the evaluation function is larger than a prescribed threshold value, the speed of the frame is converted. If the value of the evaluation function is smaller than the prescribed threshold value, the frame is judged to be a frame in a silent section and neglected. The speed conversion is made by thinning out frames or repeating the same frame as many times as required according to prescribed rules.
