  • Patent number: 5983055
Abstract: A photosensitive element is produced with a minimum amount of a conductive synthetic resin material. A draft for injection molding is formed in the inner circumferential surface as a supporting body, and a driven member provided with a gear is fixed to the end of the supporting body with a smaller inner diameter, that is, the thicker end. A driven portion in which a plurality of projections and depressions are formed alternately to be adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction is arranged on an axial end of a cylindrical supporting body made of a conductive synthetic resin, including a photosensitive layer on the outer circumferential surface. By a joint member removably engaged with the driven portion, the supporting body is rotated around the axis. In one arrangement, only the end of the supporting body is solid. In another arrangement, the supporting body is solid in the almost entire length in the axial direction.

  • Patent number: 5842089
Abstract: The present invention is intended to provide a compact development apparatus using a nonmagnetic one-component toner. The apparatus comprises a toner storage container, a toner supply roller, a toner passage through which supplied toner passes, and an attracting fan for attracting the toner and generating a toner powder stream. The toner is held in the toner storage container. The toner supply roller supplies the toner from a supply port of the storage container. The toner passage is provided with an opening opposite to a photosensitive drum. The toner supplied into the toner passage and frictionally charged is attracted by the attracting fan. The toner travels from the opening to the drum. The toner adheres to an electrostatic latent image on the drum and thus the image is developed. Unused toner is transported into the toner passage and recovered.

  • Patent number: 5337127
Abstract: An image forming apparatus has a charger for charging a photosensitive body; a developing device for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive body to form a toner image; and a transfer device for transferring the toner image to a transferred material by a transfer roller to which a bias having a polarity reverse to that of toner is applied. At a pre-rotating time of the transfer roller, a bias having the same polarity as toner is applied to the transfer roller for a time equal to or greater than a time required to rotate the transfer roller at one time such that it is possible to prevent normal toner from being attached to the transfer roller. After a constant time has passed, a voltage of the transfer roller is set to zero volt so that reversed toner attached to the transfer roller is moved to the photosensitive body to which the bias having polarity reverse to that of toner is applied.

  • Patent number: 5260747
Abstract: A developing apparatus includes a developing bath for storing developing powder, a developing roller rotatably disposed inside of the developing bath, a bias circuit for applying a bias voltage for adjusting an image quality to the developing roller, a unit for recovering the developing powder from the developing bath, and a device for controlling operation of the bias circuit such that the bias circuit applies a bias voltage higher than a bias voltage for developing to the developing roller when recovering the developing powder.

  • Patent number: 4851879
Abstract: A transfer device for use in an electrophotographic copying machine includes a charger and is disposed opposite to a surface of a photosensitive body where a toner image is formed. When a copy paper is passed through the gap between the transfer device and the photosensitive body surface, the charger discharges and at the same time screening plates are moved into screening positions in the gap to shield the edge sections of the copy paper. Talc particles falling off from these edge sections of the passing copy paper can be thereby prevented from becoming attached to the surface of the photosensitive body.
