When the fingertip moves, the image taken by the image pick-up element changes and the pointer displayed on a display screen is moved in a direction according to the movement of the fingertip.

If the positional relationship between passengers in the vehicle is previously known, it can be discerned from the detected direction as to whether the operator is the driver or a fellow passenger. At the same time, the multiple detectors arranged around the operation portion can also be used as detectors for simple operations utilizing hand waving that can be performed by the driver during driving.

First and second polygonal mirrors each including mirrors arranged in a ring form around a rotation axis of a screen are disposed. An electronic projector is disposed on an extended line of the rotation axis of the screen so as to be opposed to mirror surfaces of the polygonal mirrors. The electronic projector emits concentrically arranged first and second frame image groups each including frame images arranged in a ring form. The first and second frame image groups are reflected respectively by the first and second polygonal mirrors and projected onto the rotating screen. As the screen rotates, each of the first and second image groups is projected onto the screen and displayed in order from frame image to frame image.
