  • Patent number: 6237570
Abstract: Pressurized fuel of a common rail is introduced into a control chamber of a fuel injector. An electromagnetic valve opens or closes a fuel discharge passage of the control chamber to adjust a hydraulic pressure of the control chamber. Through a switching leak passage, bubble-containing fuel directly returns from a valve opening of the electromagnetic valve to a low-pressure return passage without passing through an armature chamber. Through a stationary leak passage, the fuel leaking from every slide portion returns to the return passage via the armature chamber. A downstream portion of the stationary leak passage opens to the upper portion of the armature chamber. A damper element is provided downstream of the electromagnetic valve in the return passage for canceling an increased fuel pressure.

  • Patent number: 4915592
Abstract: An inner-cam type distribution fuel injection pump has a lubricating system for lubricating the interior of a cam chamber defined by an inner cam and a rotor with a lubricating oil having a viscosity higher than the viscosity of fuel oil. The pump is structured to prevent the fuel oil from leaking into the lubricating oil.

  • Patent number: 4725209
Abstract: A distributor type fuel injection pump of the invention includes a rotor, a pair of plungers reciprocated in the rotor, the pair of plungers defining a pump chamber therebetween; a shuttle cylinder; a shuttle piston, movably located in the shuttle cylinder, for dividing the interior of the shuttle cylinder into first and second pressure chambers, the second pressure chamber being always connected to the pump chamber, thereby pressurizing the fuel in the second pressure chamber by pressurization of fuel in the pump chamber by the plungers and moving the shuttle piston to pressurize the fuel in the first pressure chamber; a distribution head for distributing and supplying the pressurized fuel in the first pressure chamber to each combustion chamber of the engine; a control rod for mechanically adjusting an initial position of the shuttle piston when the fuel is supplied to the first and second pressure chambers; and a spill hole for spilling the fuel in the second pressure chamber when the shuttle piston is mov

  • Patent number: 4449504
Abstract: A distributor type fuel injection pump has an accumulator. When an internal combustion engine is in low-speed rotation or in low-load operation, the accumulator accumulates part of the fuel pressurized within a fuel compression chamber, thereby lowering the fuel injection rate. Also, the fuel injection pump is provided with compensator which operates simultaneously with the accumulator. While the injection rate is lowered by operation of the accumulator, the compensator extends the injection period to compensate for the reduction of injection quantity attributed to reduction of the injection rate.

  • Patent number: 4423713
Abstract: The intake pressure and temperature of a Diesel engine equipped with a supercharger are sensed and the sensed intake pressure value is divided by the sensed intake temperature value to obtain an intake density. A value indicative of the intake density is divided by a value indicative of the air-excess ratio computed in accordance with the operating condition of the engine producing a smoke-limit injection amount. The smoke-limit injection amount is compared with the injection amount corresponding to a part-load condition of the engine and the smaller one of the values is applied to a linear solenoid for controlling the fuel injection amount adjusting member in the fuel injection pump of the engine.

  • Patent number: 4058101
Abstract: The present invention discloses an improved control apparatus for a Diesel engine. The control apparatus includes an auxiliary intake air throttle device as well as a conventional main throttle device, which is actuable and throttles intake air only during engine idling and light-load operation in order to reduce the engine noise. The apparatus is further provided with a fuel metering device for ensuring the precise control on fuel metering when the auxiliary intake air throttle device is actuated so that the engine stall may be prevented.
