  • Publication number: 20060100048
Abstract: A tensioning device to impart tension to a chain or belt comprising a tensioner arm, a supporting member, a pivot, and a biasing element. The tensioner arm has a proximal end with a curved engaged surface formed on a lower surface thereof, a distal end opposite the proximal end, and an arcuately curved chain sliding surface extending between the proximal end and the distal end. The supporting member has an engaging surface for slidably contacting the engaged surface of the proximal end of the tensioner arm, such that the force exerted by a chain passing over the chain sliding surface is transmitted from the engaged surface to the engaging surface. The pivot couples the tensioner arm to the supporting member. The biasing element is between the supporting member and imparts a resilient force on the distal end of the tensioner arm.

  • Publication number: 20020119852
Abstract: A chain pin includes a carbide layer that is principally composed of vanadium carbide, but also contains a small quantity of chromium carbide formed on the top of the steel forming the base metal of the chain pin. A boundary layer (i.e., chrome-rich layer) is formed in the boundary region between the carbide layer and the base metal. The vanadium carbide content decreases sharply and the chromium carbide content increases sharply in the boundary layer. Since the carbide layer formed on the top of the base metal consists principally of vanadium carbide, it is possible to prevent peeling from the surface of the carbide layer. Moreover, the boundary layer between the carbide layer and the base metal contains a relatively large quantity of chrome, so the bonding force between the base metal and the carbide layer is increased via the boundary layer. This prevents the carbide layer from peeling from the base metal. Thus, even at high surface pressures, it is possible to improve the wear resistance of the pin.

  • Patent number: 6183677
Abstract: An abrasive sheet has an abrasive particle layer formed on a surface of a thin flexible resin film. The abrasive sheet is produced by the steps of preparing a releasable film, forming a thin flexible resin film layer on a release agent applied surface of the releasable film and forming an abrasive particle layer on an upper surface of the resin film layer. Thereafter, the resin film having the abrasive particle layer formed thereon is removed from the releasable film, and the resin film having the abrasive particle layer formed thereon is cut into any suitable size. The abrasive sheet can provide higher polishing power during the polishing operation, but it polishes a surface while tracing or following any orange peel on the surface. Therefore, the abrasive sheet is effective for use as the polishing tool that can replace the fine compound buffing process currently utilized in the automobile repairing industry.
