  • Patent number: 9294548
Abstract: A method and apparatus for handling mobility for a first host with a MPTCP connection to a second host. The first host is identified by a master address that does not change for the duration of the connection, and a plurality of locators. Each locator is associated with a path used in the MPTCP connection. The first host then determines that it has moved, and so obtains new locators. It then sends a first message to a Location Server (LS). The LS maintains an association between the master address and the locators, and the first message includes the new locators. The first host then sends a second message to the second host, the second message including the new locators. The first host can then receive packets sent from the second host sent using the MPTCP connection using the new locators.

  • Patent number: 7533164
Abstract: The invention generally concerns the issue of providing connectivity between two different address realms, generally referred to as an inside realm and an outside realm, by establishing connections through an intermediate gateway. The gateway normally has a number of outside-realm gateway addresses for enabling representation of inside-realm nodes in the outside realm. In a first aspect, support for flexible outside-realm initiated connections is enabled by dynamically establishing new gateway connection states triggered, for each new connection, by a respective user-resource identifier query initiated from a corresponding outside node. In a second aspect of the invention, intelligent use of predetermined connection information in the process of setting up new gateway connection states makes it possible to significantly increase the number of connections that can be simultaneously supported by the gateway using a limited number of outside-realm addresses.

  • Patent number: 7200679
Abstract: Server-to-user delivery of a data stream associated with a service provided by the server is effectuated by selecting the server and, automatically and without manual intervention, providing in a communication path that is to be used for the delivery a proxy that performs a proxy operation on the data stream during the delivery. A proxy can be automatically installed in a communication path through a data network. In response to an installation request, a communication port for coupling to the communication path is automatically allocated and a proxy to support data flow through the communication port is automatically loaded. The proxy is operable for performing a proxy operation on the data stream. In maintaining proxies in a communication path used to deliver from a server to a user a data stream associated with a service provided by the server, it can be determined when a first proxy in the communication path is not performing its proxy function within the communication path.

  • Patent number: 6456603
Abstract: A multilevel session management protocol is provided to support communications mobility in a telecommunications system. A session is separated into two independent layers—a terminal session layer and an application session layer. A session management agent is implemented as a module operating locally in a wireless terminal. A second session management agent is implemented as a module operating remotely in the Internet. Any session management agent module can communicate with another session management agent module by use of the session management protocol. The two session management agent modules use a multiplexed TCP connection for conveying TCP data traffic therebetween. As such, the session management protocol can be used with any application that uses an Internet TCP as a transport protocol.
