  • Patent number: 9457590
Abstract: There are provided a printing apparatus, a method for controlling the printing apparatus, and a storage medium. The printing apparatus includes a conveying unit that conveys a print medium; a print head that applies a color material on the print medium; an obtaining unit configured to obtain, in the case where a first surface of the print medium on which a first image is printed comes in contact with the conveying unit, information on a printing condition of the first surface that becomes a factor of changing a conveying speed of the print medium in the predetermined direction; and a control unit configured to control timing of applying a color material on a second surface of the print medium that is a surface at the opposite to the first surface according to the printing condition indicated by the information obtained by the obtaining unit.

  • Patent number: 6164740
Abstract: An easy-to-use image forming apparatus and method which uses either a monochrome recording cartridge or a plurality of colors recording cartridge, which, when recording an image desired by a user, does not require the user to perform unnecessary operations regarding replacement of a cartridge, change of the kind of recorded image, or selection of a form. A determination is made as to whether or not a correct cartridge is attached based on the kind of the currently attached cartridge and the image desired by the user. When it is determined that the correct cartridge is attached, recording is initiated. When it is determined that the correct cartridge is not attached, a notification prompting replacement is provided to the user. When the user instructs color reading or monochrome reading of the original, a recording operation is carried out by changing the size of the image to an appropriate size in response to the kind of recorder, original size and form size.

  • Patent number: 6088128
Abstract: In an apparatus that has a main power supply and a sub-power supply. In a standby state, the main power supply is turned on for an incoming call for facsimile communication, while the main power supply is not turned on for an incoming call for speech communication. Therefore, the unnecessary turning on and off of the main power supply can be prevented. When the DRPD (Distinguish Ringing Pattern Detect) service is provided, a plurality of telephone numbers are assigned to a single communication line, and a plurality of call signals whose pattern differ are employed for receiving calls. When one of these telephone numbers is used for facsimile and another telephone number is used for a telephone, an incoming call can be identified as being either for facsimile or for telephone by distinguishing between the patterns of the call signals. When the pattern of the call signal is for facsimile, the main power supply is turned on to perform data communication.

  • Patent number: 5925132
Abstract: A device control apparatus and a corresponding method allow the smooth recovery from a power saving mode to a stand-by state without malfunction. When the power saving mode is on and a signal which causes the release of the power saving mode is received, an output of a sleep mode release signal is temporarily driven low. After a first predetermined time period has elapsed, a power supply and an oscillation device are started. After a second predetermined time, a sleep state of a control unit is released, and the device is returned to a stand-by state.
