  • Publication number: 20200108597
Abstract: Although a conventional method of inspecting an ink discharge state in which the temperature change of the heater is detected enables accurate and high-speed inspection, due to the situation in which the inspection was performed, appropriate post-processing depending on the situation cannot be executed based on a result of the inspection. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the ink discharge state in detail. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a plurality of modes are provided in accordance with the purpose of performing an inspection of the ink discharge state, and a discharge inspection threshold is provided for each of these modes. By selectively executing or continuously executing these modes, it is possible to determine the ink discharge state in more detail.

  • Publication number: 20190299601
Abstract: According to an embodiment of this invention, a printing apparatus using a printhead that includes an inspection circuit for inspecting an ink discharge status for each nozzle performs the following processing. The apparatus selects a nozzle as a target of inspection of the ink discharge status, sets a threshold value for inspecting a detection result of a temperature detection elements corresponding to the selected nozzle, and uses the inspection circuit and the set threshold value. The apparatus receives, from the printhead, an inspection result for the selected nozzle, determines, based on the received inspection result, a threshold value to be used by the inspection circuit for inspecting the discharge status of the selected nozzle in a subsequent inspection, and stores the determined threshold value in a memory.

  • Patent number: 9409390
Abstract: According to an embodiment, a printing apparatus for printing an image on a print medium by a printhead while relatively scanning the printhead, and discharging ink from the printhead to the print medium is controlled as follows. That is, a time corresponding to a print resolution in a scanning direction of the printhead is divided into a plurality of times, and these print elements are time-divisionally driven by using the divided times as driving timings. At this time, it is controlled to form a plurality of groups each including a predetermined number of adjacent print elements of the print elements, and change the driving timings for each of the groups using the divided time as a unit.

  • Patent number: 9393790
Abstract: In the case of printing a test pattern with an inkjet print apparatus, two printing modes are prepared. In one printing mode, a preliminary ejection on the printing medium is performed during printing of a test pattern, and in the other printing mode, the preliminary ejection on the printing medium is not performed during printing of a test pattern. For a test pattern that is, if the test pattern is printed under the same condition as that for an actual image, convenient for a subsequent correction, the preliminary ejection on the printing medium is performed during printing of the test pattern. On the other hand, for a test pattern in which, if an irrelevant dot is printed within the pattern, inconvenience is taken into consideration in a subsequent correction, the preliminary ejection on the printing medium is not performed during printing of the test pattern.

  • Patent number: 9321271
Abstract: The invention provides a printing apparatus and a recovery method therefore which can minimize ink consumption in a recovery process for a print head of the apparatus. The invention has a control unit to cause a print head to eject ink from nozzles arrayed on the print head so as to recover ink ejecting function of the nozzles, and a specification unit to specify a set print mode selected from among a plurality of print modes. The print modes define number and position of nozzles in use for printing an image. The control unit executes a first preliminary ejection process before or after printing an image on a print medium. The first preliminary ejection process has selectively ejecting ink from both of the nozzles in use selected by the currently set print mode and the unused nozzles in the vicinity of the nozzles in use.
