  • Patent number: 5727883
Abstract: A recording apparatus includes conveying means for conveying a recording medium, a platen for conveying and supporting the recording medium and an ink sheet, recording means for pressing the recording medium and ink sheet to the platen and heating the ink sheet to record images the recording medium. This ink sheet has a first guiding member and a second guiding member which are bonded, respectively, to both ends of the ink sheet. The first and second guiding member bonded to both ends of the ink sheet substitute for a winding reel and supply reel. Therefore, these reels are no longer needed to make it possible to reduce the parts numbers, and implement the use of inexpensive materials.

  • Patent number: 5485435
Abstract: A magnetic field generator includes a base, a plurality of magnetic field generating cores formed on the base, magnetic field generating coils respectively wound around the plurality of magnetic field generating cores, a magnetic material member being disposed between adjacent twos of the plurality of magnetic field generating cores, and a drive device for driving the magnetic field generating coils. Also, a magneto-optical recording apparatus includes an optical head for irradiating a light beam to a magneto-optical recording medium and the magnetic field generator. The magnetic field generator can set the maximum modulation frequency at a higher value while ensuring a scope of the effective vertical magnetic field sufficiently and efficiently, to thereby permit multi-recording.

  • Patent number: 5285341
Abstract: A thin film magnetic head for use with a magnetic recording medium having a direction of movement, includes a substrate and a plurality of magnetic read/write cores disposed on the substrate. At least a part of each core is formed of a magnetic thin film deposited on the substrate. Each of the cores includes a magnetic gap disposed between the magnetic read/write core and the substrate, the magnetic gaps being aligned with each other in the same position relative to the direction of movement of the magnetic recording medium. Each magnetic gap is separated an identical distance from the substrate, and each of the cores has a different width for forming a different width track on the magnetic recording medium.

  • Patent number: 5146378
Abstract: A multi-track magnetic head having at least three conversion elements deposited on a common substrate includes a medium sliding face which is formed in a curved shape. The positions of at least two of the three conversion elements are shifted from each other perpendicularly to the alignment direction of the conversion elements in conformity to the curvature of the medium sliding face.

  • Patent number: 5136447
Abstract: A magnetic head having a substrate, a magnetic core means including a magnetic thin film deposited on one surface of the substrate, and a protective plate formed on the magnetic thin layer in a way that the magnetic thin film is interposed between the protective plate and the substrate. At least a portion of the substrate, or of the protective plate or of the both substrate and protective plate is made by crystallized glass. The crystallized glass is obtained by thermally treating glass containing the following oxides on % by weight basis:SiO.sub.2 : 42.about.52%,ZnO: 5.about.15%,Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 : 28.about.38%,TiO.sub.2 : 5.about.15%,MgO: no more than 10%,PbO: no more than 10%and has a Vickers hardness of from 800 to 1,100 kg/mm.sup.2.

  • Patent number: 5057959
Abstract: A thin-film magnetic head having a magnetic core formed by a thin-film deposition technique on a substrate formed of crystallized glass which comprises of a mass of microcrystalline aggregation particles having an average particle size of 1 to 10 .mu.m and each comprising of an aggregation of microcrystalline grains having an average grain size of about 0.5 .mu.m or smaller. This structure enables an improvement in the abrasion resistance of the head and, hence, an improvement in the recording/reproduction characteristics while maintaining the desired workability of the substrate, thereby improving the head in producibility and reliability.
