  • Patent number: 8095041
Abstract: A fixing device includes a pair of fixing members opposing each other and a pressing lever that is rotatable around a shaft. The pressing lever can be moved either to a pressing position in which one of the fixing members is pressed against the other fixing member, or to a pressure releasing position in which the one of the fixing member is separated from the other fixing member. When the pressing lever moves between the pressing position and the pressure releasing position, a first control unit located near an end of the pressing lever controls displacement of the end.

  • Publication number: 20110026944
Abstract: In a fixing device, a fixing member contacts an opposing member to form a nip therebetween through which a recording medium bearing a toner image passes. A plurality of separators provided downstream from the nip in a recording medium conveyance direction contacts the fixing member to separate the recording medium having passed between the fixing member and the opposing member from the fixing member. A plurality of contact-direction biasing members connected to the plurality of separators biases the separators to cause the separators to contact the fixing member. A releasing member contacts the separators to cause the separators to separate from the fixing member. A driver connected to the releasing member separates the releasing member from the separators to cause the separators to contact the fixing member.

  • Publication number: 20100232848
Abstract: In a fixing device, at least one separator is provided downstream from a fixing nip formed between a fixing rotary member and a pressing rotary member in a recording medium conveyance direction to contact the fixing rotary member to separate a recording medium having passed through the fixing nip from the fixing rotary member. A feeler is provided upstream from the fixing nip in the recording medium conveyance direction and contacted by the recording medium conveyed toward the fixing nip to receive a pushing force from the recording medium. A transmission assembly is connected between the feeler and the separator to receive and transmit the pushing force to the separator to move the separator from a non-contact position at which the separator does not contact the fixing rotary member to a contact position at which the separator contacts the fixing rotary member.

  • Publication number: 20100034548
Abstract: A fixing device includes a rotary fixing member, a counter member to contact the rotary fixing member, a first heater to heat the rotary fixing member, a driving unit to rotate the rotary fixing member, a temperature detector to detect a temperature of the rotary fixing member, and a contact-and-separation unit to switch between contact and separation states of the rotary fixing member relative to the counter member. In a temperature-raising operation, the driving unit causes the rotary fixing member to rotate when the temperature detector detects that the temperature of the rotary fixing member has reached a first setting temperature. The contact-and-separation unit causes the rotary fixing member in rotation and the counter member to contact each other when the temperature detector detects that the temperature of the rotary fixing member has reached a second setting temperature that is higher than the first setting temperature.

  • Publication number: 20090162772
Abstract: An image forming method, including forming an electrostatic latent image on a latent image bearer; forming a thin layer of a toner on a developing roller with a thin-layer forming member; and feeding the toner with the developing roller to the electrostatic latent image to develop the electrostatic latent image, wherein the toner is a pulverized toner, including a binder resin; a wax; and an inorganic particulate material, and wherein the following relationships (1) to (3) are satisfied: 300?v?100??(1) 10?R?5??(2) R2/12?A?150/v??(3) wherein v represents a peripheral speed of the developing roller; R represents a diameter of the developing roller; and A represents an exposure of the wax on the surface of the toner.
