Abstract: A display control apparatus may include a calculating unit for calculating the degree of similarity of each of a plurality of second images to a selected first image, a display control unit for controlling displaying of the second images in the order of similarity, and a selecting unit for selecting, in response to an instruction from a user, one second image from among the plurality of second images displayed in the order of similarity. In response to the selection of the one second image, the display control unit may control the displaying of the second image and a third image belonging to the same group as the selected second image so that the third image and the second image are displayed in accordance with a predetermined order in the group.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus and method and program allows a user to efficiently and quickly select predetermined content such as content to play and content to purchase. When it is instructed to turn on power, key information and additional information stored in a key/additional information storing unit is read. The read key information and additional information is transmitted to an Internet server and a home server, and it is requested to perform a content search based on the key information and additional information. Information representing search results is acquired by a display data generating unit, and a screen based on display data generated from the search results is displayed on a display. A user selects predetermined content from a list displayed on the display to view it. The present invention is applicable to an information processing apparatus such as a personal computer and various home electronic appliances capable of playing content.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a content provision system, an information processing apparatus and method, an output apparatus and method, and a program therefor, which makes it possible to use content easily and quickly. When a DVD disc 3 is inserted into a DVD player 2, a message indicating the fact is broadcasted from the DVD player 2 to a TV 4-1 and a TV 4-2, which are all other devices connected to a network 1. In the TV 4-1 and the TV 4-2, a message notifying that a medium storing available content was newly found is displayed on a screen thereof, respectively. When reproduction of the found content is instructed by a user in the TV 4-1, the DVD player 2 is requested by the TV 4-1 to provide the content, and image of the content provided in response thereto is displayed on the TV 4-1. The present invention can be applied to storage equipment including a DVD player and a personal computer and display equipment including a TV set.
