  • Publication number: 20130135866
Abstract: A lighting unit including a thermally conductive array housing for a light emitting diode array mounted on a first surface of a printed circuit board, a heat transfer element located on a second surface of the printed circuit board and forming a thermally conducting path between the array of light emitting diodes and a rear side of the array housing, and a power supply housing spaced apart from the read side of the array housing and including a power supply. Heat dissipating elements on the rear side of the array housing form convective circulation air passages and thermal isolation gaps between the heat dissipation elements and the power supply housing.

  • Patent number: 8319452
Abstract: In some examples, a dimming protocol detection technology includes methods and apparatuses. In other examples, the technology includes a dimmer configured to transmit a dimming input signal. The dimming input signal is in a dimming protocol. The technology further includes a light fixture. The light fixture includes a plurality of lights and a dimming protocol detection module configured to detect the dimming protocol received in the dimming input signal. The dimming protocol is detected from a plurality of dimming protocols. The light fixture further includes a light dimming control module configured to control the plurality of lights based on the detected dimming protocol.

  • Publication number: 20120287613
Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) lighting unit including power supply housing accommodating a power supply and an LED array housing defining an internal compartment and a lens sealing the internal compartment. An LED array and an LED control circuit are mounted on a printed circuit board, which is accommodated within the compartment. The rear surface of the LED array housing includes a heat transfer element. At least one of the LED array and power supply housings has a chimney extending therethrough from a front to rear surface. The rear surface of the LED array housing is spaced from the front surface of the power supply housing to define and airflow space therebetween. During operation of the LED lighting unit, air flows into the airflow space and toward a central axis of the LED lighting unit before flowing out through the chimney to facilitate removing heat from the LED lighting unit.

  • Publication number: 20120287627
Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) lighting unit including power supply housing accommodating a power supply and an LED array housing defining an internal compartment and a lens sealing the internal compartment. A different respective LED array is mounted on at least one of a number of common printed circuit boards accommodated within the internal compartment. The different LED arrays provide different illumination, controlling one or more illumination features such as beamwidth, color and color temperature. Physical isolation is also provided between the LED array housing and the power supply housing to allow for controlled or otherwise restricted access to one or more of the different housings. In at lest some embodiments, one or more of the LED array housing and power supply housing are configured with a centrally located chimney, drawing in cooling air from a space provided between the to housings to facilitate cooling of the lighting unit.

  • Publication number: 20120133303
Abstract: A method and a system for assembling and controlling a lighting array including a plurality of lighting units by providing a representation of the lighting array having a unit entry for and corresponding to each lighting unit in the lighting array wherein each unit entry includes a physical location address field and a lighting unit identification field. The representation of the lighting array is mapped onto the array address space by entering a physical address in the array address space into the location address field of each unit entry and serializing the lighting unit by writing a unique unit identifier of a corresponding lighting unit into the lighting unit identification field of each unit entry.
