    Abstract: A method and corresponding apparatus for regulating a system that produces electric power, the system including an electric alternator having a rotor integral with a rotating part of a wind machine to form a rotary assembly, and a power electronics module, the method including the steps of: producing an alternating current at output terminals of the alternator; converting the alternating current produced by the alternator into modulated pulses of direct current. Alternating electric current produced by the alternator is regulated by controlling the speed of rotation of the rotary assembly by resisting torque imposed by the alternator in response to modulating the pulses of continuous current produced by the converted the alternating current.

    Abstract: The system comprises a nacelle mounted to turn about a vertical axis on the top of a mast and carrying a rotary portion which rotates about a substantially horizontal axis in a large diameter bearing. The rotary portion comprises a hub to which blades are fixed. The system has an electric generator comprising a stator and a rotor in the shape of a disk. The rotor is fixed by a connecting member to the hub adjacent the bearing so that the forces exerted by the wind on the rotary portion are transmitted directly to the bearing without passing through the electric generator.

    Abstract: The invention concerns an installation for producing electric power comprising an electrical alternator (7) having a rotor preferably with permanent magnets integral with the rotating part (5, 6) of the wind machine, to constitute a rotary assembly (5, 6, 8) and a power electronics (12) module including means for converting (15) the alternating current produced by the alternator (7) into direct current. The method consists in adjusting the electrical characteristics of the electric current produced by the alternator (7) and the rotational speed of the rotary assembly (5, 6, 8) by modulating the direct current produced by the power electronics (12) module converting means (15). Preferably, the power electronics (12) comprises a pulse-width modulating rectifier (15), a rheostatic chopper (16) and a pulse-width modulating inverter (17) interconnected by a direct current bus (18). The inventive method and device enable to enhance the control of the wind machine in accordance with atmospheric conditions.

    Abstract: An electrical machine with a discoidal structure comprising rotor and stator discs disposed coaxially and having at least two axial air gaps between the rotor and stator discs. The widths of the axial air gaps are measured and sent to a control unit for being compared so that an offset signal can be generated based on the difference between the widths of the axial air gaps. The offset signal is supplied to a drive module for driving a balancing means in order to cancel an axial magnetic force exerted on either the rotor or stator discs. The deterioration of the electrical machine can be reduced.
