  • Patent number: 11813169
Abstract: A human shoulder replacement that includes a housing with a narrow bearing articulator that can rotate to achieve the range of motion of a normal shoulder joint. The narrow bearing articulator contains a partially spherical bearing. The narrow bearing articulator fits into a housing that itself is recessed into a cavity cut into the Glenoid Fossa. The housing is typically a short cylindrically shaped receptacle that is screwed into the bone. The bearing has a shaft that passes through a drilled hole in the Humerus. The shaft is bolted at its distal end with a head that can be recessed into the Humerus. A penetrating screw is driven through a plate attached to the Humerus, through the Humerus itself, and through a hole in the shaft in the interior of the Humerus.

  • Publication number: 20190060098
Abstract: A system of medical devices implantable in the human body using transabdominal gastroscopy surgery to repair failing sphincters and to prevent obesity. A stainless steel non-magnetic spring covered with silicon or other long-term tissue friendly plastic can be installed in place of a natural sphincter by tunneling through a non-functional natural sphincter and pulling the artificial sphincter into the tunnel to form a ring. The device can be tied on the end with suture to form a permanent structure. Without pressure, the device will be continuously closed; however, it will open under natural pressure on it just as a natural sphincter. A intragastric suspended balloon can be sutured into the stomach to cut appetite. The balloon can be roughly the shape of a pepper and take up room in the stomach without closing it off.

  • Patent number: 10213196
Abstract: A hand-held, surgical suturing device that can be operated and manipulated with one hand. The device has a suture spool that can be locked The device can rotate in either direction. It is configured to accept at least two different types of needles, a single hook needle and a corkscrew needle useful in different suturing applications. These needles can be supplied in different sizes and shapes. The needle, suture spool and needle carrier are typically supplied in sterile packages and are disposable. A first embodiment has a triangular-shaped squeeze handle that, when squeezed, causes the needle to rotate. A second embodiment has a cylindrical handle for manual stitching where the needle can be released to freely rotate by pressing a control button. In either embodiment, the suture spool can be locked or allowed to rotate freely by activating a releasing rod.

  • Patent number: 8097016
Abstract: A laparoscopic surgery close device used to close an entrance hole into a patient's abdomen with other embodiments that can function as a hemostasis device or as a drain device. An elongated stem with christmas-tree serrations (one way) has an inflatable balloon on a distal end and an anchor disk that can slide over the stem from the proximal end. After inserting the stem into a surgical entrance hole in a patient's abdomen, the balloon can be inflated providing support from the bottom, and the anchor disk can be slid on from the top effectively pinching the tissue along the hole. The device can be left in for around 5-6 days to allow healing to take place. After that, the balloon can be deflated, and the device can be pulled out. A second embodiment has a lager diameter hollow stem and can be used as a hemostasis device where the surgeon can pinch off a bleeding blood vessel and continue surgery through the same entrance port.

  • Patent number: 6315784
Abstract: A surgical suturing apparatus includes a needle, a needle holder which also serves as a support for suturing material, and an elongate handle. The needle defines a passageway through which the suturing material extends. The passageway has an outlet at the distal end of the needle.

  • Patent number: 6221085
Abstract: A suturing device consists of a needle and a turning mechanism that drives the needle. A handle of the device drives the turning mechanism. The device receives suturing material needed for suturing tissue; and a surgeon may operate it by squeezing the handle. This action may move the needle from zero to 360 degrees.

  • Patent number: 5944657
Abstract: A surgical retracting device includes a body, at least one pivotable finger, and an actuating assembly that moves the finger between open and closed positions. The body defines a passageway and openings that allow suctioning and irrigating through the device. In addition, the device includes a cauterizing assembly for cauterizing tissue of a patient.
