Patent number: 6648359Abstract: A wheel chair includes two side assemblies each include a back post with a hand grip, a seat bar connected to a lower end of the back post, an arm rest movably connected to the back post, a hanger bracket connected to a front end of the seat bar, a caster rotatably connected to a front end of the seat bar, and a rear wheel connected to a side of the side assembly. A connection device connects the back post and the arm rest, or the front end of the seat bar and the hanger bracket. The connection device has a C-shaped member fastened on the back post or the front end of the seat bar extends. A sleeve is connected to an outside of the C-shaped member and a first end of a connection tube is movably and rotatably received in the sleeve. A locking bolt extends through a close end of the sleeve and is threadedly connected to the first end of the connection tube. The arm rest or the hanger bracket is fixedly connected to a second end of the connection tube.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2002Date of Patent: November 18, 2003Assignee: Aerospace Industrial Development CorporationInventors: Zen-Jye Chen, Wen-Huei Chung, Ju-Pin Li

Publication number: 20030189361Abstract: A wheelchair has two sides each provided with a side support frame, an armrest, and an armrest adjusting device. The side support frame has a front portion provided with a support rack, and a rear portion provided with a positioning bar pivotally connected with a rotation shaft, so that the side support frame may be pivoted about the rotation shaft. The rotation shaft is rotatably mounted in the support shaft of the wheelchair, so that the side support frame and the rotation shaft may be rotated about the support shaft. Thus, the side support frame may be rotated about the support shaft through a fixed angle, so that the side support frame may be rotated and moved to a rear portion of the backrest of the wheelchair, thereby facilitating the user entering and leaving the wheelchair.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2002Publication date: October 9, 2003Inventors: Zen-Jye Chen, Wen-Huei Chung, Yen-Sheng Yang, Shsu-Tung Chu, Chi-Ming Shih
