  • Publication number: 20040114904
Abstract: A method of composing a multimedia slide show. In a preferred embodiment, the method comprises the steps of: selecting a plurality of digital images; encoding each of the plurality of digital images to generate a normal resolution image portion and a high resolution image portion; multiplexing each corresponding normal and high resolution image portion to generate a single high resolution still image; determining a time parameter for each of the high resolution still images; selecting an audio portion for at least one of the plurality of digital images; concatenating the plurality of high resolution still images to generate a video bitstream; generating an audio bitstream by encoding the audio portion; and multiplexing the video bitstream and audio bitstream to generate the multimedia slide show.

  • Publication number: 20040086174
Abstract: A technique is described of predicting the uncertainty of trifocal transfer. The technique is an improvement upon a method for determining the perspective projection of a spatial point in three image frames, given the geometric constraint of trilinearity as defined by a set of trilinear equations, where trifocal transfer is used to predict a corresponding point in the third frame from a trifocal tensor and points in the first two frames. The improvement comprises the step of predicting the uncertainty of trifocal transfer in the third image subject to the uncertainties affecting corresponding points in the first two images of a rigid scene under perspective projection using the trifocal tensor.

  • Publication number: 20040086185
Abstract: A method for multiple cue integration based on a plurality of objects comprises the steps of: (a) deriving an ideal transition graph and ideal transition probability matrix from examples with known membership from the plurality of objects; (b) deriving a relationship of the plurality of objects as distance graphs and distance matrices based on a plurality of object cues; (c) integrating the distance graphs and distance matrices as a single transition probability graph and transition matrix by exponential decay; and (d) optimizing the integration of the distance graphs and distance matrices in step(c) by minimizing a distance between the ideal transition probability matrix and the transition matrix derived from cue integration in step (c), wherein the integration implicitly captures prior knowledge of cue expressiveness and effectiveness.

  • Publication number: 20040069053
Abstract: A method for evaluating energy transmission from an axle through a vehicle suspension system. The methodology employs a torsional actuator to apply input energy to the vehicle in a manner that mimics the energy that is generated by the axle during the operation of the vehicle so that both the driving load and the vibration induced by gearset motion variation are simulated. Since the energy input can be quantified and monitored, the same amount of torque can be applied during each test to permit the technician to fully comprehend differences in the designs of several axles on the transmission of noise and vibration.

  • Publication number: 20030174893
Abstract: A method of storing a digital image file, includes the steps of: storing a header defined by a standard; storing image data encoded according to the standard after the header; and storing an image tail containing non-standard meta-data at the end of the image data.

  • Publication number: 20030059107
Abstract: A method of automated content-based grouping of digital images without using auxiliary metadata and training data set, comprises the steps of computing a color correlogram from image pixel values for each of the digital images, grouping the color correlograms into groups within a hierarchical structure based on relative similarities of the color correlograms, and assigning the images to the groups based on the hierarchical structure of the color correlograms.

  • Publication number: 20020168108
Abstract: An event clustering method uses foreground and background segmentation for clustering images from a group into similar events. Initially, each image is divided into a plurality of blocks, thereby providing block-based images. Utilizing a block-by-block comparison, each block-based image is segmented into a plurality of regions comprising at least a foreground and a background. One or more luminosity, color, position or size features are extracted from the regions and the extracted features are utilized to estimate and compare the similarity of the regions comprising the foreground and background in successive images in the group. Then, a measure of the total similarity between successive images is computed, thereby providing image distance between successive images, and event clusters are delimited from the image distances.
