  • Patent number: 9477720
Abstract: This specification describes technologies relating to searching. In general, aspects of the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in methods that include the actions of receiving, at a computing device, a search query from a user, receiving, at the computing device, search results responsive to the search query, the search results each associated with digital content stored in one or more computer-readable storage media, determining that a first search result of the search results is associated with a first endorsement generated by a first user, determining that the first user is a member of a social graph of the user, and transmitting instructions to display the search results to the user, the instructions including instructions to display a first endorsement annotation associated with the first search result.

  • Patent number: 9208228
Abstract: In one aspect, a system includes: an indexing engine for indexing a plurality of sources of content, receiving a search query and returning search results; a ranking engine for ranking search results to produce ranked results, the ranking engine coupled to receive search results from the indexing engine; a modification engine for generating modified results using information from additional sources and the ranked results, the modification engine coupled to receive the ranked results from the ranking engine, the modification engine coupled to receive the information from the additional sources; and a presentation engine for sending modified results and an annotation, the presentation engine coupled to receive modified results and the annotation from the modification engine, the presentation engine coupled to provide the modified results and the annotation to a client device. The present disclosure also includes a method for retrieving social videos.

  • Patent number: 9064002
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for social identity clustering. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a connection graph representing public social data, where the nodes represent social identities and each edge is either a “me” edge between identities claimed to belong to the same person or a “friend” edge between identities claimed to belong to different identities. The method further includes converting the graph to a cluster graph in which each node initially corresponds to a single node of the connection graph. The method further includes updating the cluster graph by iteratively merging cluster nodes based on an analysis of the weight of the “me” edges connecting them, and then replacing the merged cluster nodes within the graph with a new cluster node containing the merged cluster nodes, where the edges of the new cluster node are the aggregated edges of the merged cluster nodes.

  • Patent number: 8965883
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for analyzing quality of user-generated content involve identifying interactions between users through an electronic network and assigning a weighting factor to each interaction representing a quality of the interaction. A user credential score is generated for each user based on the weighting factors for each interaction. The user credential scores are stored in association with a user identifier on a computer-readable storage device.

  • Patent number: 8880608
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage devices, for determining social affinities from public data. In one aspect, a method computes numeric affinity scores or weights between pairs of network identities, e.g., identities made public by users of social web sites on the Internet, where the pairs of identities appear to represent pairs of individual people, using explicit and inferred social connections obtained from public user data on the Internet. Some of the system and methods explore all social connections (paths) between any given pair of vertices X and Y in the weighted graph data structure of such social connections and aggregates information about their number and relative strength to produce the affinity score from X to Y.
