  • Patent number: 9883809
Abstract: Apparatus is described, including a motion sensor configured to sense motion of a patient and to generate a motion signal in response thereto. The apparatus includes an output unit and a control unit. The control unit is configured to analyze the motion signal, to identify breathing of the patient as being shallow breathing in response to the analyzing, and to drive the output unit to generate an alert in response to identifying the breathing of the patient as being shallow breathing. Other applications are also described.

  • Patent number: 8821418
Abstract: Apparatus is provided, including a sensor configured to sense motion of a subject and generate a motion signal in response thereto. The apparatus includes an output unit and a control unit. The control unit is configured to: (a) analyze the motion signal, (b) at a first time, determine that the motion signal is indicative that the subject is likely sleeping, (c) at a second time following the first time, determine that the motion signal is indicative that the subject is likely no longer sleeping, and (d) in response thereto, drive the output unit to alert a clinician if the subject is at an increased risk for falling out of a bed. Other applications are also described.

  • Publication number: 20120253142
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are described including a motion sensor (30) that senses motion of a subject and generates a motion signal in response thereto. An oximetry sensor (86) measures oxygen saturation of the subject and generates an oximetry signal in response thereto. A control unit (14) analyzes the sensed motion and the sensed oximetry signal, and filters out false alerts relating to a condition of the subject generated by the oximetry signal, based on correlation between the oximetry signal and an aspect of the motion signal. Other embodiments are also described.

  • Publication number: 20110112442
Abstract: Apparatus (10) is provided that includes at least one sensor (30), configured to sense a physiological parameter of a subject (12) and to sense large body movement of the subject (12), an output unit (24), and a control unit (14). The control unit (14) is configured to monitor a condition of the subject (12) by analyzing 5 the physiological parameter and the sensed large body movement, and to drive the output unit (24) to generate an alert upon detecting a deterioration of the monitored condition. Other embodiments are also described.
