Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a take-out food container closure tool and more particularly pertains to allowing a take-out food container to be easily closed.

[0002] Typical take-out food containers are comprised of an aluminum base and a cardboard top. The aluminum base has an open top to allow food to be placed therein. The open top is provided with a peripheral edge having a pliable peripheral lip extending upwardly therefrom. In use, the cardboard top is placed over the open top, resting atop the peripheral edge. The pliable peripheral lip is then pressed downwardly to whereby the cardboard edge is positioned between the peripheral edge and the down turned peripheral lip. Unfortunately, this process tends to be harmful on the fingers after repeating this process numerous times. What is needed is a tool that can perform this task preventing injury to the fingers.

[0003] The present invention attempts to solve the abovementioned problem by providing a tool that can effectively downturn a peripheral lip of a take-out container to engage it's cardboard top.

[0004] The use of container closure devices is known in the prior art. More specifically, container closure devices heretofore devised and utilized for the purpose of closing containers are known to consist basically of familiar, expected and obvious structural configurations, notwithstanding the myriad of designs encompassed by the crowded prior art which have been developed for the fulfillment of countless objectives and requirements.

[0005] By way of example, U.S. Pat. No. 4,697,719 to Allen discloses a foil closure lid for a container with a series of projecting tabs. U.S. Pat. Nos. 4,211,338 to Bublitz and 4,363,404 to Westphal disclose additional container closure devices.

[0006] While these devices fulfill their respective, particular objective and requirements, the aforementioned patents do not describe a take-out food container closure tool for allowing a take-out food container to be easily closed.

[0007] In this respect, the take-out food container closure tool according to the present invention substantially departs from the conventional concepts and designs of the prior art, and in doing so provides an apparatus primarily developed to allow a take-out food container to be easily closed.

[0008] Therefore, it can be appreciated that there exists a continuing need for a new and improved take-out food container closure tool that can be used for allowing a take-out food container to be easily closed. In this regard, the present invention substantially fulfills this need.
