Brassiere cup and resulting brassiere

The invention concerns a brassiere cup comprising a bearing structure (2) covered on at least one of its surfaces with a covering fabric (3, 4). The invention is characterised in that: the bearing structure (2) is and said bearing structure (2) has at its lower edge an increased thickness so as to form an edge roll (5) and a lip (6) for assembling the cup with the strap of the brassiere and form a base.

[0001] It also concerns the brassière obtained.

[0002] A brassiere is embodied by mounting of a multitude of pieces obtained, for example, by cutting in a strip of fabric or lace, etc.

[0003] Thus, first the cups are formed and then assembled on the body of the brassière composed of a belt or base for encircling the thorax and possibly with added straps.

[0004] The firmness of the cup mainly results from the presence of seams and the shapes of the various elements mounted together and by mounting with the other elements of the brassiere.

[0005] The work is further more involved when it concerns a reinforced brassière.

[0006] These reinforced brassières have at the base of each cup a reinforcement piece constituted by a long-limbed arc-of-a-circle-shaped element

[0007] To embody this, it is necessary to produce a sock in which said reinforcement is inserted, said sock then being closed at each extremity.

[0008] Thus, this large number of operations poses drawbacks.

[0009] The document F-A-2.715.274 describes the method to embody inserts for brassi{fraction (e)}re cups by using a thermoformable material, such as a polyurethane or polyester foam.

[0010] This embodiment provides the cups with improved support.

[0011] To achieve this result, a thermo-melting insert is placed between two foam layers and is heated to a temperature close to melting point and next the cup is shaped in a mould.

[0012] It is then possible to slide the insert in a pocket.

[0013] It is also possible to dress the internal and external walls by glueing a fabric and, to allow mounting, the fabric shall be more stretched than the internal or external face of said fabric so as to leave a marginal strip which shall then be fixed with the belt of the brassière by traditionally used methods when the cup in mainly made of a fabric.

[0014] However, the above does not solve the problems mentioned above.

[0015] The object of the invention is to provide a brassière cup including a bearing structure covered on at least one of its faces with a covering fabric, said cup being characterised in that:

[0016] the bearing structure is made of rubber, and

[0017] this bearing structure has at the level of the lower edge firstly an increase in thickness so as to constitute a pad, and secondly a lip for mounting the cup with the belt of the brassière and to constitute a base.

[0018] The invention shall be more readily understood from a reading of the following description given by way of non-restrictive example and with reference to the accompanying drawing which diagrammatically represents

[0022] With reference to the drawing, FIG. 1 is a cutaway view of a brassière cup 1 to be secured to a belt encircling the thorax of a woman.

[0023] This cup conventionally includes a beating structure 2 covered on at least one of its faces with a covering fabric 3, 4.

[0024] According to one characteristic of the invention

[0025] the bearing structure 2 is made of natural or synthetic rubber, and

[0026] this bearing structure 2 has at the level of the lower edge 2A firstly an increase of thickness so as to constitute a pad 5, and secondly a lip 6 intended to mount the cup with the belt of the brassière and to constitute a base.

[0027] Advantageously, the cup 5 houses a reinforcement 7 inserted at the time the cup is manufactured.

[0028] This reinforcement 7 shall for example have a basically rectangular section, the large side of the rectangle being situated inside the vertical plane.

[0029] The angles of the rectangle shall be at least folded back down or replaced by curved zones.

[0030] The cup is obtained by moulding, especially by injection.

[0031] Advantageously, the covering fabric is secured to the rubber bearing structure via the partial and at least the local penetration of said fabric into the thickness of the rubber.

[0032] Fixing of the fabric is preferably made at the periphery of the cup.

[0033] The thickness of the cup shall be easily adapted and thus for example establish zones of increased stiffness which shall be localised according to the shape of the breast.

[0034] It is also possible to vary the thickness of the entire surface of the cup.

[0035] In one embodiment, the cup has at least one portion of its surface vents 8 for aeration.

[0036] The shape of these vents 8 shall be truncated with the large base projecting onto the internal face of the cup.

[0037] For certain applications, this could involve large cuts.

[0038] Advantageously, the two brassière cups are embodied in a single operation and are then connected during this moulding operation by a material bridge.

[0039] It is then easy to fix the backs of the brassière to this unit.

Claims

1. Brassière cup including a bearing structure (2) covered on at least one of its faces with a covering fabric (3, 4), said cup being characterised in that:

the bearing structure (2) is made of natural or synthetic rubber, and
this bearing structure 2 has at the level of the lower edge 2A firstly an increase of thickness so as to constitute a pad 5, and secondly a lip 6 intended to mount the cup with the belt of the brassière and to constitute a base.

2. Brassière cup according to claim 1, characterised in that the pad (5) houses a reinforcement (7) inserted at the time the cup is manufactured.

3. Brassière cup according to claim 2, characterised in that the reinforcement (7) has a basically rectangular section, the large side of the rectangle being situated inside the vertical plane.

4. Brassière cup according to claim 3, characterised in that the angles of the rectangle are at least folded back or replaced by curved zones.

5. Brassière cup according to claim 1, characterised in that the covering fabric is secured to the rubber bearing structure via the partial penetration and at least the local penetration of said fabric in the thickness of the rubber.

6. Brassière cup according to claim 5, characterised in that fixing of the fabric is effected at the periphery of the cup.

7. Brassière cup according to claim 1, characterised in that the cup has on at least one portion of its surface vents (8) to provide aeration.

8. Brassière cup according to claim 7, characterised in that the shape of the vents (8) is truncated with the large base projecting onto the internal face of the cup.

9. Brassière characterised in that it is obtained according to one of claims 1 to 8.

10. Brassière according to claim 9, characterised in that the two cups are connected by a material bridge, the unit being obtained during the moulding operation.
