Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to an umbrella supporting mount which can be easily and quickly secured to a flat surface of a table or roof of a vehicle in a stable and firm manner without shaking at all. The supporting mount has an integrally punched metal lid of proper height and is equipped with a plurality of vent holes and a pair of symmetric mounting holes on the vertical periphery thereof, permitting a cranked driving control shaft having a handle at one end to be positioned in a hollow interior of the lid. A driven unit integrally made of hard plastics consists of a circular base board and a vertically extended block having a driving hole disposed at the center thereof. The circular base board of the driven unit is partially wrapped around by a sucking attachment which is made of flexible rubber and has a peripheral skirt defined at the bottom edge thereof. So, a cranked section of the cranked driving control shaft can be engaged with the driving hole of the driven unit and the activation of the driving control shaft results in the lift up of the driven unit to force air in the skirted area of the sucking attachment out of the lid via the vent holes so as to produce vacuum effect for firmly fix the supporting mount to a flat surface.

[0002] There are two commonly seen prior art umbrella supporting mounts or stands, one is a dome shaped metal or concrete block having an umbrella supporting post located at the center thereof; and the other is a table supported by a cylindrical supporting post and at the center of the table is located an umbrella insertion hole so as to permit an umbrella to be retained in place. Both of such prior art supporting mounts have the following disadvantages:

[0003] 1. The weights and the size of the supporting mounts are relatively too heavy and bulky for easy transportation and storage.

[0004] 2. The table structure with the supporting post occupies too much room and is not widely applied to different events.

[0005] 3. The umbrella and the supporting mount are designed in such a manner that they can not be carried around as a whole, making the practicability of such supporting mount poor.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] Therefore, the primary object of the present invention is to provide an umbrella supporting mount which is equipped with a cranked driving control shaft mounted to a lid and engaged with a driven unit partially wrapped around by a flexible sucking attachment. The lid having a plurality of vent holes is easily engaged with the flexible sucking attachment having a bottom peripheral skirt whereby the activation of the driving control shaft results in the expelling of air under the skirted area of the sucking attachment so as to make the supporting mount to be removably fixed in place.

[0007] Another object of the present invention is to provide an umbrella supporting mount which can be readily disposed on a garden table or the roof of a vehicle in a firm and stable manner without shaking at all.

[0008] One further object of the present invention is to provide an umbrella supporting mount which can be easily and speedily secured in place and dismantled for storage; and the supporting mount is also can be attached to the end of an umbrella for use as a handle.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0015] Referring to FIG. 1, the umbrella supporting mount of the present invention comprises a lid 10, a driven unit 20, a sucking attachment 30, a driving control shaft 40, a tubular sleeve 50 and two end caps 60. The lid 10 is a metallic piece integrally punched into a cover in a circular shape with of a proper height. There are two symmetric round mounting holes 11 on the opposite positions of the circular periphery thereof. A plurality of vent holes 12 are disposed between the round mounting holes 11. The lid 10 has a hollow interior 13. The driven unit 20 is integrally made of hard plastics and has a circular base board 21 at the bottom thereof and has a vertically projected block 22 at the center hereof. At the center of the block 22 is disposed an axially extended driving hole 23 which has a flat bottom base and two symmetric arc shaped sides 231 extending to the summit of the driving hole 23. The sucking attachment 30, a circular element made of elastic rubber, consists of a top and bottom section; the former has an engagement cavity 31 with a stepwise projection 32 disposed at the center for partially wrapping up the circular base board 21 of the driven unit 20. The periphery of the bottom section is provided with a supporting skirt 33 having a larger diameter than that of the top section and a sloped inward peripheral plane 34. The sloped plane 34 forms a large recessed area 35 at the center of the bottom section.

[0016] The driving control shaft 40 is integrally formed having a thin and elongated driving stick 41 at both ends and a cranked middle section 42 provided with a smoothed face 421 in conformance to the arc shaped inner wall 231 of the driving hole 23. An actuation handle 43 extends vertically from one end of the driving stick 41. The tubular sleeve 50 is made of elastic rubber and the two end caps 60 are respectively a short cylinder with an engagement opening 61 at one end.

[0017] In assembly, as shown in FIG. 2, the handle of an umbrella is inserted into an elastic holding tube A and the umbrella is secured to the top center of the lid 10. The tubular sleeve 50 is led into the driving control shaft 40 and is moved next to the actuation handle 43. Then the driving stick 41 is led into the round hole 11 of the lid 10 and further into the driving hole 23 of the block 22 of the driven unit 20 wrapped up by the sucking attachment 30 with the cranked middle section 42 confined within the driving hole 23. At last the driving stick 41 sticks out of the opposite round hole 11 of the lid 10 with the end cap 60 attached to the end thereof for limiting purpose. At then the engagement cavity 31 of the flexible sucking attachment 30 is outwardly pulled to such an extent that the hollow interior 13 of the lid 10 can be stuffed thereinto. Another end cap 60 is secured to the end of the handle 43 of the driving control shaft 40 to complete the assembly.

[0018] Referring to FIG. 3, it shows the present invention is put in a non lift-up state and in FIG. 4, the same is put in a lift-up state. The driving control shaft 40 is restrained in place by the tubular sleeve 50 and the end caps 60, so, in operation, the driving control shaft 40 will not disengage from the round mounting holes 11 of the lid 10.

[0019] As the driving control shaft 40 is operated in a lift-up state, the handle 43 is cranked to get the middle cranked section 42 of the driving stick 41 spun upwardly, with the smoothed face 421 in urging abutment against the arc shaped inner wall 231 of the driven unit 20. The hard circular base board 21 of the driven unit 20 can cause the recessed area 35 of the sucking attachment 34 to lift upwardly, resulting in the air in the hollow interior 13 and the engagement cavity 31 will be expelled out of the lid 10 via the vent holes 12. The recessed area 35 comes into a vacuum state so as to make the supporting skirt 33 of the sucking attachment 30 suck firmly on a surface to which the supporting mount is to be fixed in a ready, stable and firm without shaking manner, such as a garden table or the roof of a vehicle, as shown in FIGS. 5, 6.

[0020] It can be apparently seen that the above embodiment has the following advantages in practical use:

[0021] 1. The driving control shaft 40 is firmly retained in place by the tubular sleeve 50 and a pair of end caps 60 having an engagement opening 61 when engaged with the lid 10 which is firmly mounted to engagement cavity 31 of the sucking attachment 30 whereby the supporting mount can be easily and quickly assembled.

[0022] 2. The operation of the cranked driving control shaft 40 can force a driven unit 20 which is engaged with the sucking attachment 30 to drive down or lift up the skirted bottom area 33 to expel air in the skirted area out thereof via the vent holes 12 of the lid 10 to produce vacuum state for fixing the supporting mount to a flat surface or introduce air into the skirted area to get the sucking attachment released.

[0023] 3.The supporting mount permits an umbrella to be easily and quickly fixed to a flat surface, such as a table or the roof of a vehicle, and dismantled to carry around by way of the umbrella housing tube A, making the supporting mount of the present invention practical in use.
