Description
DESCRIPTION

[0001] 1. Field of Invention

[0002] This invention pertains to spools or reels of cable, wire, wire rope, flexible conduit and the like. More specifically to a means of unwinding or winding these materials on spools or reels in a unique and convenient way.

[0003] 2. Prior Art

[0004] Because of the size and weight of wire spools, it has been difficult to always place them, and the mechanism necessary to wind and unwind them, in a convenient location. Generally, the prior art indicates mechanisms which place a rod or roller through the center of the spool axially. The spool is then rotated upon this axis to facilitate winding and unwinding.

[0005] These mechanisms are usually mounted on trailers, a collapsible frame or the axial bar is placed on flip stands.

[0006] All of these methods require lifting and some cases assembly and disassembly at the worksite and require two or more persons to perform.

[0007] This invention, however, provides a device, which is portable and can be placed in almost any congested area. The invention has low ground clearance and a spool is loaded by means of a detachable ramp, therefore no lifting is required. In most applications the invention can be transported and operated by one man. These innovations alone same time, energy and greatly reduce lifting energies. All materials necessary to produce this product are recyclable.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0008] In accordance with the present invention there is a spool unrolling/rolling device, which is adaptable to cable, wire, wire rope, flexible conduit and the like.

[0009] The device hereof generally comprises idler rollers mounted on a frame with a detachable ramp upon which a spool is placed horizontally and, engaged and rotated on its outer rims.

[0010] For a more complete understanding of this invention, reference is made to the accompanying drawings.

Claims

1. A large spool unroller/roller device comprising:

a. means for unrolling and rolling spools by means of rotating them on the outer edges of said spools.

2. The device of claim 1 further comprises:

a. rotating idler rollers mounted on a frame upon which a spool is placed horizontally and engaged on it's outer rims, the size of said rollers and frame may vary proportional to the size and weight of spools.
