Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] In order to position an umbrella at opened state, it is known that a bow spring is usually provided in a shaft of the umbrella while a flat end of the bow spring is extended outside to engage with the runner of the umbrella. When to close the umbrella, user must push the flat end of the bow spring by his finger for releasing the runner, which is then moved downward for closing the umbrella. At the moment of closing umbrella, the runner is moved fast. If the user does not move his finger away quickly, he will always be injured. Moreover, it is very trouble to put the bow spring in the shaft of the known umbrella. It is complex and uneconomic.

[0002] Accordingly, the primary object of the invention is to provide a safe engaging structure for a runner of an umbrella, which includes an invented structure for positioning the umbrella at opened state and prevents from injury. Now the features and advantages of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS

[0003] FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing an umbrella with a safe engaging structure according to the present invention.

[0004] FIG. 2 is a partly cross-sectional plan view of FIG. 1.

[0005] FIG. 3 is a perspective view showing the umbrella of FIG. 1 in opened state according to the present invention.

[0006] FIG. 4 is a partly cross-sectional plan view of FIG. 3.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0007] Please refer to FIGS. 1 and 2 first, the present invention includes a runner (1) provided around a shaft (2). Top end of the shaft (2) connects with an upper joint (21). The frame has ribs to connect with the upper joint (21) and a connector (12) of the runner (1) to become a normal umbrella. The characteristic of the present invention is that the runner (1) is provided with a longitude slot (11), which intercross the connector (12) and a metal wire (13) thereon. A downward control rod (3) is connected with the upper joint (12) and is provided with an engaging end (31) and a round projection (32) at lower portion.

[0008] When to open the umbrella, the runner (1) is moved upward to slightly press the control rod (3) and then to engage the end (31) with the metal wire (13), as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4. Under this engagement, the runner (1) will be positioned stably for maintaining the umbrella opened. When to close the umbrella, user can press the round projection (32) to push the engaging end (31) inward for releasing the runner (1). Thus the umbrella can be closed in ease safely. Further, since the engaging structure is provided outside the umbrella, the shaft is unnecessary to be provided with inner bow spring. It is to be understood that the manufacturing of the umbrella will be more simplified and utilized.

[0009] Accordingly, the invented assembly of the present invention obviously obtains utility and improvement. It should be allowed for patent and is applied.
