PORTABLE, ABSORBABLE UMBRELLA STAND

After research and to my knowledge, a storage unit for a wet umbrella such as my invention does not exist. It will allow an individual, from a child to a senior citizen to store a wet umbrella in a quick, convenient and neat manner. Instead of having to carry a dripping wet umbrella around, “The Portable, Absorbable Umbrella Stand” will allow one to store their wet umbrella, and once at their final destination, rest it conveniently.

Description

[0001] “The Portable, Absorbable Umbrella Stand” makes handling and storing a wet umbrella quick, convenient, and neat.

[0002] “The Portable, Absorbable Umbrella Stand” will have a nylon case, with a drawstring through the top of it, covering a cylinder-like sponge. This sponge will absorb the water of a wet umbrella. When one arrives at their destination, they can simply pull the sponge out of the case, wring it out, and place it back in the case. The nylon case will be attached to a hard plastic or rubber casing in order for it to be able to stand alone. At the bottom of the hard casing are fold-up legs to allow it to stand upright.

FIELD OF INVENTION

[0003] “The Portable, Absorbable Umbrella Stand” makes dealing with inclement weather easy and neat. Any age group, from children to senior citizens, can use the invention globally. It provides quick, convenient and neat storage for a wet umbrella, whether at the office, school, church, restaurant, on public transportation, in a car or anywhere.

SUMMARY

[0004] “The Portable, Absorbable Umbrella Stand” will help solve the problem of storage of a wet umbrella. Instead of having to open it up to dry, one can just slip the wet umbrella into the cylinder with the sponge to absorb the water, then wring it out at a later time.

[0005] A clear advantage for this invention is it provides one with an easy way to store a wet umbrella without having to take up much space, and without any hassle.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING

[0006] FIG. 1 shows the front view of the invention, “The Portable, Absorbable Umbrella Stand.” The nylon case will enclose the umbrella while in storage. The drawstring will help prevent some excess water from leaking out of the case. The hard casing will stabilize the invention so it can stand on its own. The fold-up legs make it easy to store the stand, with the umbrella inside, once at a final destination, if one desires. For placement in a tote bag or a briefcase, the legs can remain folded up in the grooves.

[0007] FIG. 2 shows the view from the top of “The Portable, Absorbable Umbrella Stand.” The pull-out sponge will absorb the water of the umbrella, once placed in the umbrella cavity. When closed, the nylon case with drawstring, will help to catch any excess water from leaking.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0008] In order to make “The Portable, Absorbable Umbrella Stand,” one would need to first measure the length of the umbrella that will fit into the umbrella cavity. Once that is done, a rectangular shaped hard plastic casing will be made, equipped with fold-up legs at the bottom. The size of the legs will be relative to the size of the hard casing that is made, in order to properly support it if in an upright position. Then, a nylon case will be attached to the inside of the hard plastic casing. Once this is done, a sponge will be cut and fitted into the case to provide the absorption of water from a wet umbrella.

[0009] Depending on the company whom decides to manufacture the invention if accepted, different colors or prints could be used for decorative purposes. For children, favorite cartoon characters could be depicted on the outside of the hard casing to make “The Portable, Absorbable Umbrella Stand's” use fun for them.

[0010] To use “The Portable, Absorbable Umbrella Stand,” one would first close their umbrella (but not fasten it shut,) loosen up the drawstring which goes through the top of the nylon case, slip the umbrella into the umbrella cavity with the sponge to absorb the water from the umbrella, and tighten the drawstring around the umbrella for neat storage. Once arriving at one's destination, the sponge can be removed to wring out any water that has been absorbed.
