Description
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to a tool hanger.

[0003] 2. Related Prior Art

[0004] Taiwanese Patent Publication No. 4510790 discloses a tool hanger including a board 1 and a shackle 2 detachably attached to the board 1 for retaining a tool between them. The board 1 defines a hole 11 so that the board 1 can be hung on a nail hammered to the wall. Two fins 12 extend toward each other from a side of the board 1. Each of the fins 12 includes a tip 123 extending toward the board 1. A limit 122 is formed between each of the fins 12 and the board 1. The shackle 2 includes two fins 21 extending in opposite directions. Each of the fins 21 defines a groove 23. In order to mount the shackle 2 onto the board 1, each of the tips 123 is inserted in one of the grooves 23 so that the shackle 2 is smoothly slid relative to the board 1. The fins 21 are restrained by means of the fins 12 so that the shackle 2 cannot be removed horizontally from the board 1. The fins 21 are restrained by means of the limits 12 so that the shackle 2 cannot be removed downwardly from the board 1. Two hooks 3 are formed on the board 1. Each of the fins 21 defines a hole 4 for receiving one of the hooks 3 so that the shackle 2 cannot be removed upwardly from the board 1 unintentionally. Thus, the tool is firmly retained between the board 1 and the shackle 2. However, since the distance between the board 1 and the shackle 2 is constant, the tool tends to rattle between them if it is too thin and cannot be retained between them if it is too thick.

[0005] The present invention is therefore intended to obviate or at least alleviate the problems encountered in prior art.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

[0006] It is the primary objective of the present invention to provide a tool hanger capable of firmly holding a tool of any size.

[0007] According to the present invention, a tool hanger includes a body, a tooth formed on the body, a retainer formed on the body so as to define a space between the body and the retainer, a strap extending from the body into the space defined between the body and the retainer, and a plurality of teeth formed on the strap for engagement with the tooth formed on the body.

[0008] Other objects, advantages, and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the attached drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

[0009] The present invention will be described through detailed illustration of embodiments referring to the attached drawings wherein:

[0010] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a tool hung on a tool hanger according to a first embodiment of the present invention.

[0011] FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the tool hanger shown in FIG. 1.

[0012] FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along a line 3-3 in FIG. 1.

[0013] FIG. 4 is similar to FIG. 3 but showing a thicker tool hung on the tool hanger.

[0014] FIG. 5 is a perspective view of a tool hanger according to a second embodiment of the present invention.

[0015] FIG. 6 is an exploded view of the tool hanger shown in FIG. 5.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS

[0016] Referring to FIGS. 1˜4, according to a first embodiment of the present invention, a tool hanger 2 includes a body 20. The body 20 defines a hole 21 so that it can be hung on a nailed hammered in the wall. The body 20 defines a recess 22 for receiving a marker (not shown). The tool hanger 2 includes a tab 23 extending from the body 20. A strap 24 extends from the tab 23. A plurality of teeth or more preferably ratchets 28 is formed on the strap 24. A corresponding tooth or more preferably ratchet 27 is formed on a rear side of the tab 23. A retainer 25 is formed on the rear side of the tab 23 so that a space 26 is defined between the retainer 25 and the tab 23.

[0017] Referring to FIG. 3, the tool hanger 2 is used to hold a tool 3 of a first size. The tool 30 is held against the tab 23. The strap 24 is wound around the tool 3 and inserted into the space 26. The tool 3 is tightly wrapped by means of the strap 24 when one of the ratchets 28 is engaged with the ratchet 27. The engagement of the appropriate one of the ratchets 28 with the ratchet 27 is retained due to the retainer 25.

[0018] Referring to FIG. 4, the tool hanger 2 is used to hold a tool 4 of a second size greater than the first size. The tool 4 is held against the tab 23. The strap 24 is wound around the tool 4 and inserted into the space 26. One of the ratchets 28 is engaged with the ratchet 27. The engagement of the one of the ratchets 28 with the ratchet 27 is retained due to the retainer 25.

[0019] Obviously, the tool hanger 2 can be used to hold a tool of any size.

[0020] FIGS. 5 and 6 show a tool hanger according to a second embodiment of the present invention. The second embodiment is identical to the first embodiment except for that the strap 23 is made of a different size and put in a different position.

[0021] The present invention has been described through detailed illustration of two embodiments. Those skilled in the art can derive variations from the embodiments without departing from the scope of the present invention. Therefore, the preferred embodiment shall not limit the scope of the present invention defined in the claims.
