Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The opening at the rear of a toilet seat is usually circular, with a diameter of approximately eight inches for adult use regardless of the design of the balance of the seat or the materials used in its manufacture. The combination of round opening and a cross sectional shape tapering inward to the center of the circle tends to compress the buttocks into a circle and therefore is a negative factor in evacuation. In this invention a positive factor in evacuation is achieved by changing the shape of the seat so as to apply pressure on specific muscles.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The rearmost portion of a toilet seat is designed so that the user can easily exert pressure on specific muscles in the rectal region so as to substantially reduce the effort and stress involved during evacuation.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The functional design of this invention configures the central sector of the circular opening at the the rear of the seat to a chordal or curved shape. (FIG. 1, FIG. 2). The leading edge of this sector places pressure on the muscles in the vicinity of the tip of the coccyx so that a slight body movement can vary the pressure on the muscles controlling evacuation.

[0006] In the seated position the muscles on the underside of the leg support the body which is then free to move forward and backward with a minimum of effort by pressing one's feet on the floor. This permits the user to apply either constant or variable pressure to the muscles in the vicinity of the coccyx.

[0007] A small child's toilet seat is essentally round and the segmental portion at the rear of the seat is designed such that a controlled maximum of pressure can be applied to the coccyx.

[0008] Soft sided seats may achieve these benefits by modifying the core of the seat to include a stiffer chord across the rear of the seat in the same manner as discussed above.

[0009] In the preferred embodiment of this invention (FIG. 1) the central portion at the rear of the seat protrudes forward such that pressure is applied locally on the muscles near the tip of the coccyx before significant pressure is applied to the muscles of the buttocks.

[0010] In a second embodiment of this invention (FIG. 2) a sector of the circle of perhaps forty to seventy-five degrees at the rear portion of the seat subtends a chord on the order of three to five inches long which applies pressure in a broader area across the muscles near the tip of the coccyx.

Claims

1. A toilet seat designed such that the user can place tension and/or pressure on specific muscles of the Ischip-rectal region during expiration from the lower bowel.

2. A toilet seat as in claim 1, in which the central area at the rear of the seat is brought forward such that controlled pressure can be applied continuously or intermittently to the specific area of the external sphincter muscle, the coccyx muscle and the inner sphincter muscle, so as to slightly deform the bowel without expending a stressful amount of force during evacuation.

3. A toilet seat as in claim 1, in which the leading edge of the opening at the rear of the seat is a chord or curve across a sector of up to 75 degrees of the opening so as to place pressure on a broad area of the buttocks and hence the muscles in the rectal region.

4. A toilet seat as in claim 2 in which a device providing multiple functions can be attached to a toilet seat to manipulate the muscles in the Ischip-rectal region in the same manner as in claim 2.
