Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to a hair styling device, and more particularly to a hair styling device or a barrette for styling hair without additional hair pins or hair bands or hair nets or hair clips.

[0003] 2. Description of the Prior Art

[0004] Typical hair styling devices, such as hairpins or hair bands or hair nets or hair clips may be used to style hair of users. Similarly, the typical barrettes may also be used for styling hair of users, in order to shape the hair of the users into such as the bun-shaped contours.

[0005] However, the typical barrettes may not be used to solidly secure or retain onto the hair of the users, and one or more additional hair pins or hair bands or hair clips are further required to engage with the typical barrettes and the hair of the users, in order to solidly secure or retain the typical barrettes onto the hair of the users, and to prevent the typical barrettes from being disengaged from the hair of the users.

[0006] The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages of the conventional hair styling devices.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0007] The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a hair styling device or a barrette having one or more retaining members provided thereon for styling hair and for attaching onto the hair of the users without additional hair pins or hair bands or hair nets or hair clips.

[0008] In accordance with one aspect of the invention, there is provided a hair styling device comprising a housing including a chamber formed therein to receive hair of user, and including a lower peripheral portion, and at least one retaining member provided on the lower peripheral portion of the housing, and including a leg extended from the lower peripheral portion of the housing, to form a slot between the leg and the lower peripheral portion of the housing, and to receive the hair of the user between the leg and the lower peripheral portion of the housing, and to secure the housing onto the hair of the user without additional hair pins or hair bands or hair nets or hair clips.

[0009] The retaining member includes at least one swelling extended from the leg thereof, to engage with the hair of the user, and to further secure the housing onto the hair of the user. The housing includes at least one recess formed in the lower peripheral portion thereof, to receive the swelling of the retaining member, and to solidly engage with the hair of the user.

[0010] The housing includes a helical groove formed therein, and defined by a helical member, to allow the hair of the user to be seen through the helical groove of the housing.

[0011] Further objectives and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from a careful reading of the detailed description provided hereinbelow, with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0012] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a hair styling device in accordance with the present invention;

[0013] FIG. 2 is a perspective view illustrating the operation of the hair styling device, or illustrating the attachment of the hair styling device onto the hair of the user;

[0014] FIG. 3 is a cross sectional view taken along lines 3-3 of FIG. 2;

[0015] FIG. 4 is a perspective view similar to FIG. 1, illustrating another embodiment of the hair styling device; and

[0016] FIG. 5 is a perspective view similar to FIGS. 1 and 4, illustrating a further embodiment of the hair styling device.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0017] Referring to the drawings, and initially to FIGS. 1-3, a hair styling device in accordance with the present invention is similar to a barrette or the like, and comprises a housing 11, such as a cone-shaped housing 11 including a chamber 12 formed or provided therein to receive the hair 90 of the users, in order to form such as bun-shaped hair members 91.

[0018] The housing 10 of the hair styling device includes a helical groove 14 formed therein, and defined by a helical member 15, for allowing the hair 90 of the user to be seen through the helical groove 14 of the housing 10.

[0019] The housing 10 includes a lower peripheral portion 17 having one or more retaining members 30, such as latches, clips, etc., formed or provided thereon, for engaging with or onto the hair 90 of the user, and for solidly attaching or securing the housing 10 onto the hair 90 of the user.

[0020] For example, each of the retaining members 30 includes a leg 31 extended from the lower peripheral portion 17 of the housing 10, or directly extended from the helical member 15 of the housing 10, to form or define a gap or slot 32 between the leg 31 of the retaining member 30 and the lower peripheral portion 17 of the housing 10, for receiving the hair 90 of the user, and for securing the housing 10 onto the hair 90 of the user.

[0021] Each of the retaining members 30 may further include one or more swellings 33 extended from the leg 31 thereof, to further engage with the hair 90 of the user, and to further secure the housing 10 onto the hair 90 of the user, as also shown in FIGS. 4, 5.

[0022] The housing 10 may further include one or more recesses 19 formed in the lower peripheral portion 17 thereof, to receive the swellings 33 of the retaining member 30, and thus to solidly engage the retaining members 30 of the housing 10 with the hair 90 of the user, and so as to further solidly secure the housing 10 onto the hair 90 of the user.

[0023] As shown in FIG. 4, the housing 10 may have no recesses 19 formed therein to receive the swellings 33 of the retaining member 30. As shown in FIG. 5, the housing 10 may also be formed into a net-shaped structure, or other decorative configurations.

[0024] In operation, as shown in FIG. 2, the housing 10 may be easily engaged and secured onto the hair 90 of the user by rotating the housing 10 relative to the hair 90 of the user, for allowing the hair 90 of the user to be solidly retained between the lower peripheral portion 17 of the housing 10 and the retaining members 30.

[0025] The retaining members 30 are solidly provided or extended from the housing 10, and thus will not be disengaged from the housing 10.

[0026] Accordingly, the hair styling device in accordance with the present invention includes one or more retaining members provided thereon for styling hair and for attaching onto the hair of the users without additional hairpins or hair bands or hairnets or hair clips.

[0027] Although this invention has been described with a certain degree of particularity, it is to be understood that the present disclosure has been made by way of example only and that numerous changes in the detailed construction and the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
